Drink Cup for Preschooler?

My DD will start preschool soon and doesn't have a sports bottle or sippy cup. She has sippy cups from her toddler days for drinks in the car, but they seem too babyish for her to take to school. Does anyone have a suggestion? DD is 4 and loves dinosaurs. I looked at straw cups by Nubby but didn't know if that would be too babyish, too, so I put it back. She has a lunchbox from Yubo coming, if that helps.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ended up getting 2 flip straw type bottles at WalMart. They did not have the funtainer design she wanted, but I do very much like the ease of use/pushbutton on them. I think one will be in the future, but right now she is able to use/happy to use the ones I got her (well, the Hello Kitty...she's meh on the fairies but that will likely change).

I plan to put a juice box in my son's preschool snack bag. I know they can be messy and the teacher will probably have to help him with the straw, but I think that's all expected in preschool.

A 4 year old can drink from a water bottle.
Any type.
You just need to buy one.
Lots of "sports" water bottles also comes with a built in straw that flips up.
Or the type that you open the flip open top and just drink from the spout.
It does not have to be kiddie styled. Just a water bottle.

My son had one from LL Bean. They have good quality things.
My son liked it. It had a Dinosaur on it. They don't have this design anymore but have many other kids' water bottles.
With a flip up straw.

A 4 year old, can drink from anything. Both my kids were in Preschool at that age. They drank from a water bottle, that even I would use.
Try going to any kids store, Walmart, Target, and they should have kids' water bottles.

I'd get the disposable Take-N-Toss cups from Walmart. That way if it got lost or tossed there wouldn't be any real cost gone. They are less than $.50 each. They have the ones with straws and the ones with sippy tops.

I would ask the preschool what would be the best for her to have there.

We asked children to bring a sturdy flat-based mug for school. These are less tippy than tumblers and helps for when they are pouring their water from a small pitcher-- plastic cups tend to tip, because children like to rest the spout of the pitcher on the rim of the cup. Mugs are also helpful because children sometimes associate water bottles or sippy cups as something they can pack around. Cups should be staying at the table.

Or, just ask the new teacher what she/he prefers your daughter to bring.(perhaps they bring the water bottles outside?) I always focused on teaching self-care skills and independence. Pouring our own water into a mug is one way to foster that.

Like someone else said, I used a juicebox, too. I kept them in the freezer and thawed them halfway (under hot water). At preschool it's still reasonable to expect they'll get help with the straw if they need it.

At my daughter's preschool all of the 2 year olds are drinking from regular cups. They allowed her a sippy cup when she first started but after a week she wanted a regular cup. If she takes a lunch then get a juicebox for her.
