ok i am sure all of you have read my other posts! About u/s accuracy and my newest one about my daughter and her behavior. But this one I am VERY VERY curious about and was just wondering if anyone has tried it and was it right?? i have read a lot of the old wives tales and done the chinese chart and even spent the $30 on the INTELLIGENDER....all of this says BOY...at my 19 week u/s they said GIRL. Just now I was web surfing and I came across the drano method. Where you add your urine to crystal drano. i read its nasty smelling and of course if i actually do it i will do it outside! but i was wondering have any of you tried it?? i have an upcoming shower in October and i want to know what the baby is! i havent asked my dr about another u/s yet....my next appt is sept 6th i will do it then! But also i read an article on a pregnancy website that said u/s BEFORE your 20th week are 100% inaccurate due to the baby's parts are to small. I had my u/s done EXACTLY at 19 weeks........so i am thinking it really could be WRONG!! i thought this drano test just might be fun to see what it says! anyone tried it??

What can I do next?

It sounds like you are just waiting to find the right wives tale to tell you "you're having a boy!" I think you should probably try to re-focus your energy onto the idea, that maybe you're having a girl. I think you know too, that the only 100 percent way of knowing is to have another u/s. If it's driving you crazy, just talk to your doctor TODAY! Don't wait until your next Dr. appt. And certainly don't waste your time trying to find different ways to guess the sex of your child. If you have a boy, great...if you have a girl, great! You should just be focused on 1-healthy baby, and not spend so much time on the sex. Be grateful you are having a healthy child, and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. If you don't have a boy this time.....well, you could always try again!

Hi K.,
It really sounds like you are becoming obsessed about this baby being a boy. I know you say if it is a girl you would be just as happy, but you actions aren't reflecting your words. Just spend the money and get a second opinion at a new ultra sound office. I knew I was having a girl with my second and always wanted two girls, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have or want a boy. LOL! Then my ultra sound said boy, I was like (WHAT?). I never once tried to get someone or some test to tell me it wasn't. That doesn't mean I didn't have some emotional and mental adjustments to make. I did. I also love my son more than I ever imagined. If you really are having a boy, then you can tell all of us I told you so. For right now considerate on having a healthy baby. Pray God will give you peace about all of this right now. Just let go and enjoy your pregnancy.
Best Wishes,
Y.

I've read that the Drano test you are talking about is very dangerous because the amonia in urine can react with the chemicals in the Drano and cause a vapor that is VERY dangerous to inhale. I wouldn't do it, even outdoors, because the risk to you (and baby) doesn't seem worth it. Here's some discussion on the validity of the Drano method, as well as some suggestions for safer alternatives:

Hope that helps, and if you want enjoy playing around with these "tests" hopefully you can have fun with the ones that have no potential for harm.

This does not work, as most, if not all of the old wives tales. Most ultrasound techs will NOT tell you the sex of the baby if they are not 100% sure. Now that does not mean that mistakes are made... I was told my oldest son was a girl and he was in fact very much a boy. BUT that was also 13 years ago and the u/s equipment is so much better now than it was then.
It is usually office policy to not disclose baby sex information unless they are quite certain. I agree with the others that you need to embrace the fact that you daughter will get a wonderful little sister to play with and that you can always try again if you are so convinced you need a boy. If you don't trust your husband to provide you with one (lol) ADOPT!

I have no idea where you are getting your info but you can tell from an u/s what the gender is after 12 weeks the only way not to tell is if the baby's legs are crossed and then they will tell you that. An u/s is 100% more accurate than any of your old wives tale it is time for you to accept that your baby is a girl cause if you don't you are just going to be depressed when she arrives and that sucks embrace the fact that your daughter will get to have a sister and that you get to see a bunch of her cute stuff on the new baby. you are not having a boy I am sorry but some one just needs to say it

I know it's hard to swallow if you secretly had your heart set on a boy, but honey, like others have said, you're having another girl! Everyone here is right - the old wives tales are wrong 50% of the time - it's either a boy or a girl, one or the other, they have a 50% chance of getting it right, and 50% chance of getting it wrong. You could pay out of pocket at an ultrasound "boutique" and they will do a gender scan for about $75. You can try to get another ultrasound out of your dr. If you end up needing an amnio - that will tell you fool-proof. Or you can just wait until she comes out.
I know you will be happy either way, but trust me, if you have any kind of disappointment about the sex, use this time to come to terms with it before she is born - otherwise you face some serious post-partum depression risk. LOTS of women have this same problem - whether they wanted a boy or a girl. Don't feel ashamed to admit it and/or seek professional help to talk it out and become totally okay and even happy about it!

Are you Crazy??? Only Kidding really...however STOP trying other methods, you are wasting your time! If the Doc told you it was a girl it probably is. Ultrasounds aren't usually wrong. Those old wives tales are! I have 2 girls and 1 boys and just for peace of mind, I did the chinese calendar (for fun..) and it was wrong ALL three times! My Ultrasounds however were not!

I have never tried it, but hey for fun why not. I did do the chineese calandar thing when I was prego, and it was a hundred percent right. It said I was having a boy and I did. I had an ultrasound done at 16 weeks because of complications and they said I was having a boy, so its really hard to tell, however my sisters 4th child she was told it was a girl throughout the whole pregnancy and then when the baby came out surprise, it was a boy.

Hello!
I've never heard of this method before. I'm slightly skeptical and doubt one should be playing with Drano while one is pregnant. :-)

I'm a big believer in the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
http://www.thelaboroflove.com/chart/cal.html
It is 75% accurate supposedly.
It was right for me. But I've only had one child.

Good luck and have fun trying to guess!
