I am pregnant with baby #2 and with my last pregnancy I had Dr. Phillips. I had my first ob visit set with Dr. Phillips but they called to Reschedule because he wouldnt be in the office...WELL I HAVE to go to my appointment that day due to my husband and I both taking the time off and we cant change it. Needless to say I had to switch Doctors because of that. I was informed that whoever is your first dr is your dr throughout the entire pregnancy. So I now have Dr. DeSalvo. I know nothing about him other then what I read on their website. Anyone have any good/bad experiences with him? Is he good? I am very much about Natural childbirth with no meds and I know a lot of dr try and talk you into them...I DONT WANT THAT!! any input I can get would be amazing....thanks in advance!

So What Happened?

I saw Dr DeSalvo and both my husband and myself really liked him. He listened to all mine and my husbands concerns and had great answers and seemed to care. I have my second appointment with him next week.

He's not my regular doctor at Desert West, but he is the one that delivered my son. I thought he very nice, encouraging, said all of the right things at that time. I have thought in the back of my mind should I ever need to change doctors, I would go to him.

Congratulations to you and good luck!

I don't have any experience with that doctor BUT you can not be told that that is the doctor you have to stick with. If you are comfortable with your 1st doctor you need to let them know that you were originally scheduled with Dr Phillips and that they failed to tell you that he wouldn't be in until after you scheduled your appt. Im sure that they wont have a problem scheduling your next appts with the dr you originally wanted. Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy!

Hello A.!

When I was expecting, I had to switch doctors at 28 weeks because Cigna Paseo was closing their OB/Gyn section. Because Desert West was so close and the office large, they were able to take a lot of us from Cigna in. I had the misfortune to get assigned to Dr. DeSalvo. For some people his style may work, however I was so offended by his lack of any kind of concern for me or my questions that I switched doctors again at 38 weeks. I decided that I would rather be delivered by a virtual stranger than to see Dr. DeSalvo ever again in my life. (I am getting still angry as I write this two years later : )
I was going to pass on two things:
a) I switched to Dr Nahm at Glendale Ob/Gyn and he, his office and his fellow doctors are just fantastic! Polar opposites of Dr DeSalvo. He is still my doctor to this day.
b) Not all doctors at Desert West are like Dr DeSalvo. A friend of mine was with Dr Christine Oehler at that office and loved her as well. However, the office staff made it appear to me that they would not allow me to switch to another doctor within Desert West and that I either had to stick it out with Dr DeSalvo or go somewhere else, but that no one would take me at 38 weeks. So, I do not have a lot of love for the office either : )

Hope this is helpful.
Please let me know if I can help with aything else.

D.
