I have a 2 yr old and one on the way, he will be 2 1/2 when the newborn is here. I am researching for a tandem style double stroller, any suggestions on models/brands? I would prefer not to spend more than $250.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for the responses.... I'm going to definitely look for one in a consignment store and see if I get lucky. I like to put my babies in the sling, so I figured I have a while before I really will need the stroller. Based on your advise, I will look into the sit and stand (which I had not considered at first) but you ladies are right, DS will be almost 3 by then and most likely would enjoy the freedom of getting on and off. Thanks once again!

I, too, recommend the sit and stand style, which is what I settled for after trying a side-by-side stroller. But I just wanted to share that when you get a side-by-side stroller, you sometimes end up too wide to get between racks when shopping.

From a family who have purchased a few double strollers (myself and my grown daughters): borrow a friend with a toddler and go shopping. Put the children in the stroller and push it around to see how it actually handles with children, and how it manuvers in shopping situations, after that you can narrow it down to features you like (cupholders, basket room etc...)

Good luck

I have a Tike Tech Double T and I love it. I put my son in it when he was 8 weeks old and it has been great. My daughter was just over 2 years at the time and it worked good for her too. It is a jogging stroller so I am not sure of that is what you are looking for or not.

I have a 16 month old & almost 3 yr old. When my son was born I carried him in a wrap & had my daughter in the stroller. After a few months I got a second hand sit n stand. Both my daughter & I love it. She loves being given the option to sit or stand and I love that she can get on & off so easily without my having to pick her up. It's great for going to theme parks, zoos, & trick or treating (anything where she is constantly on & off). I am expecting again in November & intend to get a new sit n stand as this one has enough wear & has certainly given me my money's worth. As with any stroller pushing 2, the manuverability is not as easy as a single, but all things considered it's great & I highly recommend one. I agree with a previous post to go to Babies R Us & test them out -- really bang one around, practice folding, lifting, & taking apart. Babies R Us is good about letting you do that. I do not recommend a side by side. I hear so many problems from other moms the 2 greatest being that (1) they wide and harder to get through openings and (2) the kids WILL fight, a lot. Good luck!

My son was 17 months when I had my second and I purchased the combi tandem stroller http://www.combi-intl.com/Products/Item.aspx?Item=46, I used it in combination with the car seat..I bought it used and was so glad I dodn't spend too much money because I also used to carry my son in the baby Bjorn and then bought a jogging stroller as he got bigger which I use ALL the time, the tandem was fine for a few months when he was small and still in the car seat as I could click and go but as both kids got bigger its hard work pushing it around...

I have the Kolcraft tandem double stroller and I love it. The only complain I have is that it's a little heavy for me but I'm petite. I got it at BRU and paid $199.

I have the sit and stand from Target or you can get it from Walmart and a similar one from one step ahead. Not the greatest of easy when turning and storage is sometimes a pain but if money is an issue its not bad. I should have gotten the one with two canopies but all in all. My 3yr loves that she can stand and ride on the stroller or sit and get off easily.

I just got the Graco brand one that they carried at Babies 'R' Us, and it's been great for me. It folds pretty easily. I think it was $150. Now it's not fancy or top-of-the-line, but we've gotten lots of great use out of it!! (I have kids who are 3, 2, and 1, and another one due in January.)

I have a 3 year old and just had a baby three weeks ago....we looked at several strollers and ended up getting the babytrendz Sit n Stand. My 3 year old really likes it - and it's been easy for me to set up and navigate.
Anyway, we got it at babies r us for around $150 or so. Good luck!

I am almost the same boat! I am expecting my second in February and my first will be a little over 2 at that time. I have researched the sit and stand as well and am leaning toward the "deluxe" as it actually has two seats, both with canopies, then the back seat can be removed to be just the sit and stand. I, however, do NOT have this and like you are researching...so I will return back here to see if another stroller is listed! Good luck!

Hello J.,

My husband and I researched double strollers not too long ago, this was our favorite and it amazed both of us, how far back both of these seats reclined as the same time if needed. Here is a link to Burlington with more information regarding this stroller, currently priced at $199.99: http://www.burlingtoncoatfactory.com/IWCatProductPage.pro...

See what you think,

J.
