Double Stroller Help - Tampa, FL

I have a 2 year old and am expecting my 2nd child. I know I will need a double stroller but can't find one I like. I tried out the Graco Duo Glider in the store but if my older daughter is in the front seat then when the seat is reclined her head will hit the baby car seat in the back. Does any body know if the car seat can also click in the front? I also tried the Sit n Stand deluxe in the store (with 2 seats) but it looks like the basket is hard to access and the baby would have to be in the front. My husbands not sure about a side by side because he's afraid that there will be a lot of places where we won't fit. What are your opinions on double strollers and what do you recommend? I need on where my older daughter can at least recline a little since she still takes naps.

What can I do next?

Hi A.
Always put the new baby in the front on the Graco! They are stadium seating, so big sis can still look around and nap if need be :) I had that one with mine (2 1/2 years apart) while my daughter was a baby - once she was about 8 months I got the Maclaren side by side! Folds up just like an umbrella stroller with LOTS of storage underneath :)

We have the Maclaren Twin Techno. It is side by side. The car seat does not clip onto the stroller. However, the seats recline all the way and there is a 5 point harness (you can remove the shoulder straps for older children). This stroller is for newborns and up. The weight limit is 55lb per seat, the highest I have seen on any stroller. I was concerned when I bought this stroller that I wouldn't like having to take the baby out of the car seat and rebuckle her in the stroller, but it has never been an issue. It is very easy to maneuver and fits through any 36 inch doorway. The only thing I do not like about it is that the baskets under the seats are small. There are two separate ones. However, we just hang the diaper bag on the back of the stroller. We have used the stroller for over a year now. I wouldn't trade it for any others I have seen.

Hi. I have had three double strollers. My friends tell me I am the stroller queen. So, here is how I see it. I have had the duoglider. The car seat will fit in the front. BUT....the basket is very hard to access esp. if the back seat is reclined. The stoller is extremely heavy. It is hard to fit in tight areas. It is hard for your older child to get in and out. The child who sits in the back kicks and pulls hair of the child in the front. The older child cannot help the younger child b/c they are separated. Also, they recommend the larger child sit in the front which is strange b/c the seat is smaller. I did not like this stroller at all. Too big, to heavy and not convenient. I also had the Maclaren side by side. This stroller was the best. It folded so compact, it was light weight, my older child could help take care of my younger child. They could share snacks etc. No one pested the other one. I could fit easily in shopping areas unless they were terribly congested rows. I have a friend who loves the sit and stand. If your older child likes to get in and out of the stroller a lot, I would get this stroller. It is convenient, lighter weight than a full double and will last you longer. In my opinion, stay away from the front-back doubles. Go in the stores and play with them while holding the baby etc. Currently I have a combi single stroller that folds up so small. (It folds flat and then folds again in half. Very cool!) If I needed a double right now, I would check out the combi double strollers b/c they are the lightest weight and more compact. Good luck!!

I have and like the Sit and Stand Deluxe. I was also concerned about access to the basket. But, I just slide pull the net out a little and can squeeze my purse and any small bags in there. I do wish it had a tray for the back seat. Other than that I like the flexibility. The rear seat does recline, cup holders for parent and on front seat. Having the baby on front makes it easier to steer. But once the baby is out of the carseat that goes on there, you can put the baby in back if you prefer.

Hope that helps! I don't have much info. on any others! I also viewed the Graco Duo Glider and asked moms I would see around about their side by sides. I just felt that would be tough in stores, etc.

A. you need to get the BOB Revolution Double Stroller. I have the single and my sister (she has a two and one year old) has the double. They are geared toward jogging or exercising mainly but I use it for my everyday stroller. It is a bit pricey though your kids will fit in it until they are 4-5 years old, so that justifies the cost. Also, my husband LOVES IT. It is a side by side and both sides recline all the way so kids can nap etc. They also have a great sun block and rain shield for both sides. It is super easy to push literally easier than any other stroller I have tried. You can get the best prices on tinyride.com .

Good luck.

My daughters are older now and do not use a double stroller anymore, but I had 2. I used the Graco Duo, although large and cumbersome, it is ideal for when you go shopping and need to get through aisles. It is also ideal for reclining. I never used it with the car seat. If the baby was sleeping I always tooke her out and laid her down in the back. I used a side by side umbrella style stroller whenever we were going to family outings to theme parks, or walking to the neighborhood park. I got much more use out of the side by side then the Graco, but I never would have made it through the mall w/o the Graco. For my youngest daughters first birthday we invested in the sit and stand style. By the time py oldest was three she was impatient and did not like to sit in the baby stroller. She really liked the stand style. Mine were 25 months apart so we got about a year out of the Graco. By the time she was 3 my oldest did not nap often.

Get that Graco!! I tell you what, I've used and abused mine for 4 years and am now having my fourth baby and finally rebuying it again. You should see me!! I have the 4 year old and the 2 year olds in their seats and the 5 year old up on top where the cup holder is. Man, we can cruise through the mall lightening fast!! You won't need to use the recline in the front....does it even have a recline in the front?? Even if it does, it doesn't need to be all the way back. It's got awesome storage and it's sturdy beyond belief. I have 3 boys (a fourth on the way) and we have tested it to it's highest potential. It's never failed us. The only reason I'm getting another one is because, well, I deserve a new pretty one. And, mine looks gross after years of cinnamon pretzels and lemonade spilling all over it. Okay, so it's 5 stars from me!!

don't get the combi double stroller. it's made cheap and it sucks! i have a 10 month old and 23 month old.and i just purchased a schwrin double jogging stroller. thefront wheel swivels. i love it. it's easy to push and well made, but you can't use an infant carrier with it. i also just purchased a eddie brauer tandem stroller. it works good too. the front seat faces forward or towards you. the back is up higher then the front seat. so when your little one is out of the infant carrier. he/she can see without the view being blocked. good luck! it's hard to find a stroller you like.

I just purchased the reveloution black duallie stroller. I was able to find it online at Babies R Us or you can get it from any suppler. The suppler only sells navy blue or orange in the reveloution. You can choose any style that suits you, but the reveloution fits me. Some of the other stlyes come in diffent styles. But, I was able to find one in black at babies r us. I think this stroller is wonderful because it is side by side and narrow enough to fit through isles and doorways, it can be used for fitness due to the swivel front wheel that can be locked or unlocked for better movement. It has many additional adapters you can add to the stroller. I bought the infant car seat adapter which fits many infant carriers. It fits snugright seats, safeseats and many more. Here is the sight that you can visit for more information.

Good Luck! It is costly but worth it. I am expecting in June and have a 15 month old.

We have the duo glider. My son was two when my daughter was born, and yes you can click the car seat in either the front or the back. The problem is that as your older child grows it becomes difficult to push with the heavier child in front and the back seat becomes a bit cramped for a longer legged almost three year old. We just got the BOB double stroller, which is amazing. We use it mostly for outdoors/exercise. It fits through a standard front door, but I'm not sure about how it would do in stores. Ours is the 2006 model though, the most recent model may fit better. If your children are taller, you will be able to use the BOB the longest.

My friend has a 2yr old and just had a baby. Here's the link to her blog post: http://lotz-family.blogspot.com/2008/01/new-stroller.html. I too have an almost 2yr old and a 1week old. I can't afford a new stroller b/c I already have the graco duo glider. do you know if I can buy a tray for it so that the carseat can click in? I don't have a graco baby seat though.

I love the new Graco, the Quattro Tour 2. You can put the infant seat in front, it comes with an installation bar. You can acutally use two infant seats with it.THe older Graco, the duoglider, is hard to put the infant seat in the back. You have to avoid the push bars, almost dumping the babp on her face to get them in. The newer model, the Quattro, is so much nicer. I tried a ton of double strollers before buying this one. It turns on a dime, is pretty lightweight (seeing that its for two), and easy to push. My son loves the freedom of the front. Many have questioned whether he can get out because there is not a bar. The answer is no, the 5 point harness keeps Mr. Wiggly in place. He likes the separate juice and snack spaces. It folds really easily, although you have to watch that the cup holders don't come out.
Hope this helps

I delivered twins six weeks ago and have the Graco Quattro Tour stroller/travel system. I can attach both car seats to the stroller. The back seat reclines to a flat position as well. I tried out the Duo Glider and the Quattro and the Quattro is much smaller. It is easy to "drive" and folds down really easily. I really love it!

I have the graco duo glider and I love it! No the infant seat doesn't fit in the front, but to me that didn't matter. My oldest is two and she still naps also, and while sitting in the front she still fell asleep without reclining. She just propped her head on a blanket on the side and slept for almost 2 hours one time! I highly recommend this stroller! Hope you find one that you like!

I had the Jeep one that you could put a car seat in the back seat.... don't get it... its nice for a while... then you know how much a pain in the neck it really is.... its way heaver than others... I thought that would be ok in the beginning... and then I realized that I should have spent that $120 on something a whole lot lighter... its way to heavy to push two normal size kids in.. good luck I hope that I have helped (grin)

I don't have advice on any specific double stroller, but, I have a single jogging stroller and love it. I found that they have a fantastic selection of single and double strollers on eBay. Most of them are from retailers and warehouses, some of the used ones are people that are selling them. It is worth checking out. I just bought my babyjogger for $175 brand new...$100+ less than store retail!

I used a double jog stroller with my 2 (InStep Safari with the swivel front wheel). It was awesome when we used it. Easy to manuvever around. When you have the weight of 2 kids a jog stroller is the only way to go (only with the swivel wheel). On a side note: my friend has the Phil & Teds and loves it.
Just as a warning, we really didn't use it much as we thought we would. At the stores with carts my oldest was in the front and the baby was in her seat in the basket, or in her baby bjorn front pack. Once she was out of the infant seat she went up front and my son sits in the basket. Anyway, hope this helps, congrats on the second :)

My children are 10 yrs old and 6 months old so I don't know from personal experience but I have a few friends and cousins that all use the Maclaren double stroller and they love it! I have not heard them complain about not fitting places but it may also depend on the type of places that you go.
Good luck in your search!!!
