I have the Graco duoglider tandem stroller, which was great when my boys were younger (last year) but now that they are 3 1/2 and 2, I want to get a side by side. I only use a double when we go to outdoor activities that require a ton of walking (i.e. zoo, arboretum, etc.) If you have one that you love, please let me know which one you have and why you love it. I want something that is not too heavy or cumbersom and preferably one with a parent tray and storage basket. Thanks!

NOTE - My 2 boys would love nothing more than to not have to sit in a stroller, however I do want one for the walk from point A to B long distances and especially in parking lots to get to the venue. Makes it quicker. We usually do these big outings with a group of mommies and kids and it is a rule that when we are going from point A to B, the kids are in the strollers.

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your helpful responses. I have decided to go with a sit and stand combo. Just not ready to give up a stroller and a wagon is so bulky to tote around. I don't want to buy a new one so will be checking out Craigs List. Thanks again.

When my children were that age we alternated between a jogging stroller and a step two wagon that had another small wagon attached ( I had three kids). The jogging stroller worked great and much better than some strollers when we were going to fairs ect because it was some times held out in a grassy area. The wagon worked wonderful because the kids liked to ride in in not so babyish and I was able to have other stuff to roll around also like an ice chest with juce boxes and snacks.

I have an eddie Bauer Tandem. I too, wanted a side by side but when I found this one, I was sold. It folds up smaller and is lighter than my side by side umbrella. It is the easiest to maneuver in stores and it's super light. I'm 35 weeks pregnant and I can even unfold it and put it in the back of my SUV with my big belly!

Hi!
Well I have the city mini double stroller. Its the lightest one available , its side by side, it completely reclines, its very easy to maneuver, great for jogging and it has a storage basket. I love it, but you must check if it has a weight limit (since your kids are 3 and 2) Im not so sure but I think its 100 lbs. You can check it up online. I hope you find the one! Blessings from the Lord for you and your babies.

I hate side by side strollers! I've used the jeep one and its very cheap - just an umbrella stroller. The kids are cramped easily in it!

What about getting a wagon?! My son is 22 months and we hardly ever use the stroller because he walks everywhere. We have a Radio Flyer All Terrain wagon and my son loves to go for rides in it! When I babysit another child or a friend comes along, there is plenty of room for both children in the wagon.

what about getting one umbrella for the 2 year old and having the 3 and 1/2 year old help you push or hold on? He seems old enough to be able to walk especially just for going from the car to the venue. You might only use it for 6 more months or so. Does anybody else have 3 or over kids in your mommy group? seems like there should start being exceptions to the stroller rule as the kids get older.
I personally have a 3 and 1/2 year old and a 2 year old. We take our joovy sit n stand or our wagon to the zoo and the mall with a lot of walking. But i grab my umbrella for shorter stuff. It's so light and easy to move around.
good luck

i have a BOB and it is GREAT for such things outside. however, you may be better off getting a wagon, Mine are 2.5 and 14 months and they LOVE the wagon. it is a little cumbersome to travel with but at the arborteum or other places, it is pretty easy to convince them to sit and ride rather than buckle them in a stroller. My oldest (on these outings...not while running) does not buckle in the stroller...that is our "deal" if he stays put and rides, he can then get in and out to look at the animals and such.
any stroller may be expensive for just that purpose...I actully prefer my wagon in that case...there are LOTS with double seats and canopies and storage under the seat...I have a Step 2, but Little tykes also has some, and i think radio flyer too...this summer i will probably put the "top" on if we go anywhere to shade them and there are extra cup holders and storage in the top! May be a cheaper fix for what you are looking for.

I have the Zooper Tango Double Stroller and I love it. I have two boys (3 and 14 mos) and they love sitting in it, too. It has a storage basket under each seat, the seats can recline, and the seats can be completely covered. It is easy to maneuver and only weighs about 22 pounds. I have not had any problems getting in/out of stores.

It's not side-by-side, but I LOVE my sit n stand stroller. Also heard great things about the Jeep Umbrella style stroller but not sure if it has a parent try.

Hope this helps!

I have one I'll sell for $40. It is a double jogger and has dual storage, one under each seat. It has an awning type top with pockets on both sides, and a hand brake. We loved it. I even kept it around a little long because we used it for trick or treating so they could sit for a while. Message me privately if you're interested.
Thanks,
J.

My Maclaren Double was "mobile command" when my kids were younger. We travel a lot, so we needed the double in airports as well as outings to places with lots of walking. I needed them buckled while I managed luggage, tickets etc, (we often fly without my husband). By the time they were about 2 and 4 though, we were down to a single 90% of the time. At the zoo, they could take turns riding. We still took the double to Sea World and the State Fair. You might consider a riding platform that attaches to the back of a single stroller. If you really want a double, try for a used one.

If they don't like the stroller, but you need some transport, have you considered a wagon? Ours has two seats, a seatbelt, cup holders and the seats fold down so you can actually use the wagon for other purposes. We found it to be a great compromise--it holds our stuff when they want to walk and it holds them when they don't want to. My daughter fell asleep at an event once and we just folded down the seats and let her sprawl out on the wagon. We love it. They're 3 and 6 now, and it's a godsend!

I am a huge fan of sit and stand strollers - there is no permanent bar in the front to restrict the size of the kiddo you put there (though you can put the snack tray on if you want) and then the child in the back can sit on the bench seat (which does have a buckle if you choose to use it) or stand up to enjoy the view. This is great for the purpose you want it for - field trips like the zoo, etc. - because the child can ride standing in the back but then easily jump down to go look at a monkey, and hop back on. And in desperation, I have even put 3 kids on one before - two can stand in the back, or if their booties are small enough you can even sit 2 in the back!

Are you sure you need another stroller ??

When both my sons were around 2 to 2 1/2 years old they'd rather walk (run !!!) than sit in a stroller....

Even at big outings like the Zoo.....

But then again....those are my two energetic bundles....yours might be totally different :) ....

Just curious.....
