Does your son watch Dora and do you buy memorabilia of Dora for them for the purpose of learning. I know Diego is supposed to be for the boys, but Dora even though she is a girl is not doing girly stuff like say "The Princess'...so let me know your thoughts

What can I do next?

Both of my boys have always enjoyed Dora (they're 5 and 3). They've never asked for any toys or anything Dora though. However, I know they've had some coloring books and received party favors with a Dora theme they enjoyed. They also like Diego. If one of them wanted some type of Dora toy, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

What boy wouldn't love Dora?

She goes on adventures in the rain forest. She has a magic map. Her best friend is a monkey.

At the bookstore, she was waay more popular with the boys than the girls.

Just sayin.

if a boy likes dora, let him watch it..... my son watched dora & my now 4yr old girl prefers diego.....nothing wrong with buying memorabilia for them, even if it's not educational, e.g. stuffed doll.

My daughter prefers DIego over Dora. She wanted a Diego cake for her birthday not a dora one. She also wants to be a dragon for halloween. Its fine. I want her to be her own person. I don't like labels anyways. I let her play with what she wants be it dolls or trains. Which again she prefers the trains. lol

Dora, is for anybody.
Boy or girl.
It is a show. Anyone can watch.
My son does. He is 5. He learned Spanish from her show.
I don't teach him about only boy shows or girl shows. It is for anyone.

I have four girls and I dislike Dora very much:) Her voice is annoying. The animations are not creative or cute and the dialogue is basic, boring and LOUD. So, that's what I think... i wouldn't even venture on whether it is OK for a boy (btw, to answer that question... Yes, I'd say, whatever kids show it is, If ANY gender child likes it, then why not give them some toys from it!?), I'd just not suggest it to anyone:)

My daughter likes diego more than dora because he has the animals :) I think its just fine and both are educational so imo the gender doesn't matter one bit!

There are no "boy toys" and "girl toys". There are merely toys. Now, some may be geared to what society has taught us a girl should like or some may geared to what society taught us a boy should like, but that's society's standard, not the child's.

A child wants a toy that is fun and lets him/her use their imagination. If Dora and the Dora toys do that for your child, then by all means you should feel free to get them. I would. Oh, wait, I have. =) I have a 4 yr old girl and a 5 yr old boy and they frequently play with each other's toys, because to them, they are just their toys.

My boys both like Dora. They like Diego, too, but my 2 1/2 year old definitely prefers Dora. I think Diego appeals to a slightly older audience? Hey, my nieces love Cars. I wouldn't be too concerned about what's ok for boys or girls just yet. They'll decide those things on their own soon enough.

We have both Dora and Diego toys and watch both as well. My 5yo son enjoys watching both shows and my 2yo daughter sometimes chooses Diego pullups. My kids like to play dress up and sometimes my son comes out in a tutu and my daughter comes out dressed as a transformer. We buy toys based on our kids likes not based on what sex is "supposed" to play with it.

My son went through a Dora phase that lasted about 9-10 months. We did get him some of the toys, but he has since put them in his sisters room. We do have a hand-me-down Dora kitchen that they both love.
