Don't Use Kiwi Carpet Cleaning

DO NOT waste your time or money with Kiwi. It is a joke. I have wasted a year and hundreds of dollars having them come out with the "one year warranty". I wish I had cut my losses with the first visit. With the first visit the tech couldn't vacuum because his vacuum cleaner had gotten wet the night before in the bed of his truck. In addition he kept trying to sell me other services and when I declined he started negotiating with me for "cash" rates. When I complained they sent out another tech two weeks later, this guy did the same thing with the "I?ll protect your carpet for just $10 cash" and he couldn't rake the carpet because he had sold his rake to his last customer. Yesterday I had a service call in which the tech spent 15 MINUTES at my house from the minute he pull in the drive until he drove off. When I complained to him he said he was the best in the business and my dirt spots were serious stains that I would have to pay more to get them out. When I called to get a refund I was told I could try but it was a 3 to 6 month process and now I can't get anyone at the company to return my calls.

Each time they come out we spend at least 2 hours clearing toys and vacuuming the carpet only to have terrible service. The company?s only way to make amends is to send out another tech and the entire nightmare starts over again. My carpet doesn?t even look like it has been cleaned and you can?t tell the difference in the areas that were cleaned and the areas I vacuumed!

So What Happened?

After filing a complaint with the BBB and rejecting another offer by Kiwi to re-clean my carpets, I got a full refund. It was a HUGE hassle and took about 6 months but it was nice to get my money back.

I used Kiwi as well and have the same opinion. They made my carpets worse. The residue that was left was awful!!
I have found a great carpet cleaner. They are awesome. Tell them you problems with your carpet so they know. They were rated best carpet cleaner from D magazine.

Thank you for your advise. It's good to know who to avoid.

I've used Dalworth the last year or so and have been very happy. I have a 2000 sq ft home and usually only get 4 rooms cleaned at a time which takes the technician about an hour. My last technician spent 10 minutes trying to get a pedialite stain out that both he and I were sure wasn't going to come out.

Dalworth has been very professional and the results are always good. I'd give them a try.

Thanks and good luck.

Wow thanks! I was thinking about trying them out because of the tv ads. My mother just had her carpet done by a company who was great and got all of her bad stains out. If interested I can find out who she used.

I agree with you. I have used them in the past, and not only do they try to upgrade you, the techs try to make money on the side. When you call to make an appt, the dispatcher has always confirmed that they will move the furniture for you, and when the tech arrives, it's obvious that ONE person can not move heavy items, therefore, you end up moving them yourself. I will not go back to them and thanks for sharing your experience.

I understand and agree totally! I tried to save money by using Kiwi and learned they were horrible. I have gone back to my more expensive but very trustworthy carpet cleaner (Larry Alvarez with Express Carpet Cleaning). He is over in the Mckinney area. I can get my whole house done for $160 with some scotch guarding. His website is: www.expresscarpetcleaning.com His process is steam cleaning. He does not vacuum before but does rake and get out spots wonderfully. My only trouble with him is if he steams carpet that is next to tile or hard floors it makes small puddles and you need to put old towels down so you won't slip. Hope this information helps you in the future. A.

Thanks for the info. I need my carpets cleaned and I will be sure not to use them. I get tons of junk mail from them. If they're a member of the BBB, I would report them if I were you.

I am with you and relate all the way. But I found a really good guy in Allen -- Mike Fox with Fox Chemdry. He is on Allen Online (his card is at home). This guy did wanders and I ain't ever using anybody else. He uses a dry cleaning system that was so effective.

Sorry to hear your experience has been so bad- I must say that we have used kiwi for years and I have 3 kids and have had no problems with their svc. I use the warranty multiple times throughout the year and it has always been great for me. I just had them come out in my current house and the tech cleaned and spot treated my entire house (I have dogs) - and there were several bad areas from my new puppy in one room - ugh!!!!! and he moved furniture and everything and he did most of everything while I slept because I work nights and had jsut got off. He was here alone for over 4 hours and then he woke me up a couple of times to show me the areas and ask for my approval and then he evne gave me advice on how to get the wax out of the carpet from a candle I had spilled the night before. He was great and I called a week later to commend him on his job well done becase there was/is a notable improvement in my carpets and the smells and even a month later you can still see the differnce.

Not only did he do an excellent job, he did not try to upsell me anything, and he moved the furniture, raked, and vacuumed. Kiwi in Frisco is fine by me, again sorry to hear of your bad service but they have always been great for us and I will continue to refer them.

You know.
I did cut my losts on the first time they came. And when they called back to offer another service I told them that I was going to report them to BBB if they did not leave me alone. Maybe if enough of us complain to the BBB they will go out of business.

I too have heard bad things about Kiwi. We are moving into a house this week and two days ago I had Sparkles Carpet Cleaning out to do the carpet. Since we haven't moved in yet, every bit of carpet got cleaned and it looks great. There were a few spots(looked like orange soda) that didn't come up, but Brian the owner did a really good job. His wife Allison is really nice and they live in The Trails here in Frisco. They were referred by people on FriscoOnLine. You may give them a try. I can only speak for our carpet, but I'm really pleased with the results.

Hi,
I had basically the SAME experience with Kiwi. The had doubts when I saw the equipment. He used what appeared to be a floor buffer and squirted the 'cleaning" solutions from a hand held spray bottle. I had to have them re-do the stairs b/c they looked awful. I was very disappointed and hadn't called them back. I'm glad you sent this note, so now I know it wasn't just us. I'll go back to Dalworth.

Thanks, D.
