Hi,

In McKinney there is a shelter for battered women called Samaritan Inn. They have a thrift store close by called Friends of the Inn on University (HWY 380) and Tennessee-northwest corner-building is purple. The women get some type of card to go to this thrift store and get things for free for their family/babies, etc.

I have always donated all my baby stuff there...feels better than giving it to Goodwill. I think they only accept donations on Tues/Wednes/Thurs. Their phone number is ###-###-####.

Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano has a pregnancy center and resale store on Alpha & coit (I think). Obviously it is christian based but they give free pregnancy tests, sonograms, counseling, and coupons to their resale store to the moms who use their services. It is a wonderful organization and I'm sure they would love the donation. I donated to them in memory of my son who was born still.
Hope that helps,
M.

Real Options for Women is a teen/young adult pregnacy assistance institution that deals with young women with various needs. I'm not sure of the location, but I'm sure they could use whatever donations they can get.

We have a business called Pennies To Heaven. It is a children's consignment business. We take donations of items and sell them in a consignment sale. Our last sale in August was very successful and our donations went to Simaritan Inn. There is another orgainzation here in McKinney called The McKinney Outreach Center. They help single moms get back on there feet. I believe this will be the organization that we give our donations to in March. We would love to receive your donations and make a difference with them if you would like to choose us. Our website is www.pennies-to-heaven.com .

You can PM me if you have any questions on us!

Thanks for your consideration!

I work at Parkland and just read this request for donations, so here you go, hope this helps. I know sometimes I have things to donate and don't have any idea where to take them.

Holiday sunshine
Help bring some sunshine to our patients and their children during this holiday season. For many years now, the Social Workers at Parkland have been participating in adopting families for the holidays, but the need is greater than ever. So, for the first time, we are appealing to our fellow Parkland employees.
We are currently looking for donations for our most needy patients and their families. We welcome donations for children as well as adults. We ask that all donated items be new.
You can pick up a copy of our wish list as well as drop off donations at the receptionist desk in the first floor Care Management Department (located across from PM&R). Also, the wish list will also be posted in the cafeteria.
Thank you for helping to warm the hearts of many needy adults and children this holiday season. Please contact Rene Taylor if you have any questions by pager ###-###-####.

There is a place called Advocacy & Pregnancy Center that is located in Lewisville. They do free pregnancy tests, sonograms, counseling, and also provide baby clothes and other baby items at no cost to mothers. It is a great organization, and they are always needing items that they can give to moms.

Here is their info:
