My 3 yo male lab/pittbull mix has it seems, to always use the same tree to pee on. The tree has rocks around it as do other trees in my yard. When it rains it stinks really bad. I was going to try and plant flowers around but I cant even did in it it smells do bad. Is there anything out there that can get rid of the smell? This is the 1st year that the smell seems so bad. I am up to any and all suggestions. They only thing I cant do is get him to pee somewhere else. He does not have a tie out chain so moving something like that is out of the question. He is a good dog and he stays in the yard and loves runnin with the kids.

What can I do next?

Hey A.

Petsmart sells a product that comes in a spray bottle that you attach to the hose and can spray the area down with to try and cut some of the odor. I forget what it is called. It's scented a bit and worked ok for me. I have 2 dogs peeing in one area of the grass, I didn't use it religiouly but when I did spray it was a noticeable difference. It's in a white bottle with a dark green top/cap. I wish I could remember what it is called, but it says on the bottle that it is for urine odor.

My daughter has a horse and when the smell gets bad we cover the stall in baking soda. It seems to help neutralize the odor and doesn't harm the animal. However I don't know what it would do to the tree. Maybe try small amts at a time or mixed with water.

I agree with the White Vinegar. it works great for cat urine which is hard to get rid so i would think that it should do the trick and not harm the environment or your dog.

Try vinegar, or daily hosing down of the area with water. I think local pet care stores sell something in a gallon jugm but I can't remember the name of it. I would try the vinegar first, non hazardous and such. Hope this helped.

I was going to suggest baking soda, but that may alter the ph balance of the soil and possibly affect the tree

Hi A., You might want to try white vingar. I have been told that white vingar will get animal urine smell from carpets/materials so it should work on rocks around a tree. It's really inexpensive so it's worth a try anyway. I would rinse the area with water let it dry then rinse the area with the vingar and let it dry (try to keep the dog away from it for the day). Hope this works for you! Best wishes.

Pet stores sell a product called "Nature's Remedy" which is used for skink smell. Long story short--I know for sure it it works. LOL You can dilute with water and douse the area. Good luck!
