Hello: Okay, I listened to my doc and went ahead and did the 2month and 4month rotto vaccine. Well, this evening while at dinner a waitress came over to me and said HI "I want to tell you about the rotto virus vaccine DONT DO IT!! she went on to tell me how her sons bowels were obstructed and that it was not a good thing AT ALL!! she said that it didnt happen until his 6 month visit. Of course that ruined my dinner and I have been a mess since. I go back and forth about any of the shots but I did them for my oldest son. I read today how the MMR shot can be linked to ADD (never heard that one before) I was wondering if any of you have children that have never had shots (and have siblings in shcool ) and your children are doing fine?? Please give me info. thank you so much

What can I do next?

I too have heard many horrifying stories about vaccines and their potential harm. My daughter is 8 months and so far she is fully vaccinated, but it scares me every time I take her to the pediatrician. I am very scared of the MMR vaccine and I may wait until she is older to get it for her. The wonderful thing is that we have a right in Michigan to not vaccinate based on philosophical reasons alone. There is a seminar in Ferndale this week called "Are Vaccines Safe?" Here is the information: September 18, 2008 - Ferndale, MI "Are Vaccines Safe?" 6:00 - 9:00 Sponsored by Claddagh Chiropractic Clinic, Dr. Bridgette Delvin 641 W. 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale, MI 48220. Location at the Ferndale Public Library 9 Mile and Woodward Ave. $10.00 advance tickets and $15.00 at the door. For reservations and information call April at ###-###-####.

Best of luck to you in making this difficult decision.

You need to talk to your doctor about side effects. This country needs to blame someone or something for their problems, but vaccines are there to protect. There are possible side effects on all vaccines but most children never have more than a slight fever or a tender area on the skin.

Most school districts in our area REQUIRE vaccines in order for your child to enter school.

Hello,

I have not personally experienced this, but chiropractors do not vaccinate their children. This is a newer vaccine (for rotavirus). All the newer vaccines that are now available I feel have not been tested long enough or on enough of the population to see exactly what occurs.

In school~ there were a few stories mentioned that vaccines done can cause autism or worse. The bottom line: READ THE INFO and EDUCATE yourself. Do not just take the doctor's word as golden. They are not always right:

(I had my child spend a week in the hospital with a sickness similar to rotavirus, he was badly dehydrated and vomiting when I took him in to see one of the partner peds... This 'doctor' made it seem it was all in my head. My child was almost lifeless compared to his normal self. Then, that evening he had to be admitted and it was not until like 3am - after getting to RO emergency AND calling in ahead with the doctors AT 10pm. My son was VERY DEHYDRATED. So needless to say, I go natural when I can and I never speak to this doctor if he is on call or ours is not available.)

My son has had his shots, and is due for his next ones. I plan to get them, but I am checking out what ingredients are in them for one and he will not be getting all three shots at once this time. I do not plan to 'shock' his system.

Hope this helps...

The Vaccine Book is FABULOUS. Lots of god information to make informed choices but does not preach. My take away from the book was 1 shot every 3-4 weeks which was essentially what I did before I read the book. My girl has NEVER had a negative reaction to shots. No fevers, no fussiness, just her normal happy self.

My children have been vaccinated but I am not sure if I would do it again. I have many parents in my homeschool group who do not vaccinate. Also if you choose not to there is a form you request at school when it is time for them to go that waves your having to have them.

My advice is to educate yourself and make your own decisions. The official stance of the American Academy of Pediatrics is that vaccines are not linked to Autism, ADHD, etc. I tend to disagree but that is my own opinion. I have a great book I'm reading called "Healing the New Childhood Epidemics: Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies" by Dr. Kenneth Bock. It shows that he believes that vaccines are not solely responsible for these ailments but are one of many factors (those factors being genetics, toxins in our foods & air, poor nutrition in American kids today, vaccines, etc) that can worsen the conditions in certain kids. He offers an alternative vaccine schedule. He thinks that vaccines, fundamentally, are important - but that the current schedule is too h*** o* many children. I have talked with my Pediatrician and am choosing to slowly vaccinate my child. She is perfectly fine with that and doesn't give me a hard time. But, be warned: many pediatricians will be very strict and try to make you feel like you're stupid for questioning the vaccines and/or the schedule. Stay strong and do your own research so that you're confident in whatever decision you make. Best of luck!

S.,

I have the book and with baby #2 I will be following the alternative schedule. My son got the regular schedule and I was scared to death every time I got him vaccinated (before book came out).

More and more studies are coming out that show that many enivironmental factors are possibly the cause to ADD/ADHD, etc. Plastics, etc that are harmful are starting to come under attack for this. I recommend the book The Toxic Sandbox. It explains this in more detail. As many as 200 chemicals can be found in our babies cord!

As far as vaccines causing Autism - doctors say no but many moms say yes. You need to take the info and decide yourself what is right for you. I believe (with no scientific background just a lot of research) that it is possible that vaccinations can trigger certin neurological problems.

Do your reserach, discuss with your doctor and pray.

Good luck, it is a difficult decision.

I dont know how long ago the waitresses child got the rotavirus vaccine..

But there was a version of rotavirus vaccine taht was available for a whiel and then pulled off the market because of intestinal intussuption..(may not be spelled correctly) where the intestine folds in on itself like a telescopes

This was an old version of the vaccine NOT the vaccine that is currently being used.

I did not get this vaccine as I didnt think it was necesary.. Rotavirus is not fun and makes tons of laundry but it is nto that bad.
