Does Anyone Have Any Sure-fire Conception Tips?

My husband and I have been trying for our second child for about 3 months now with no success. I have been off birth control for over 6 months. We had no problem at all conceiving our daughter, but it seems that the second is giving us a little trouble. I have been doing BBT charting, CM charting, and using ovulation test kits, to try and pin point my ovulation. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked yet. I know 3 months isn't a long time, but it was so instant with our first. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I waited until 5 days after my period then we had sex every day for 10 days - it worked both times. Good luck!

We had the same problem, but it was over a year that we tried for the second one. As soon as I consigned myself to the possibility that I may not be able to concieve is when I finally was able to let it leave my hands and consign myself to fate is when I did get pregnant. One of the best things I would have to say is DON'T STRESS! What I mean is when you try, you are anxious about it.
I have other friends who went through the exact same scenario - tried, tried, tried. Gave up - and then got pregnant.

For one reason or another stress plays a part. I tried for Seven months, then miscarried and got pregnant while recovering from the miscarriage.....so....try to not stress about it!

I have been there with your frustration. We got pregnant with our first daughter the first month we tried. We waited 3 years to start trying again and then it took 3 more years to get pregnant the second time. We used the basal temperature charting that last 6 months or so, and that seemed to work. Good luck!

Prenatal vitamins? Get the healthy diet rolling and avoid the typical "bad foods". Flush your system with water and vigorous exercise. The ovulation test kits never worked for me and I found out that I was trying too late in my cycle. We eventually got it right:) Have fun with it, it worked once-no worries!!

Not sure if CM charting stands for "Cervical Mucous". If it does, definitely continue that! It works so well to pinpoint your ovulation. So non invasive as well, not much to think about. If that's not what it stands for and you don't know about this method, look into it! It really works. That's is the only thing I did when trying to conceive and it worked like a charm (we actually took it one step further as we were trying for a certain sex of the baby, we needed to really pinpoint ovulation to the day - it worked!)Here is a website with details about this if you need it.... http://www.estronaut.com/a/ovulation_fertility.htm

Good Luck!

lol yeah, stop trying so hard..... sometimes we put so much pressure on trying to concieve that it stresses our bodies out... chart your cycle and on day 12, 14, 16 and 18 have fun unstressful sex...... you've gotten preggers before so unless your Dr has told you something major has happened i say just relax ...

good luck~

Let it go. Have sex when you feel like it and let nature takes its course. We tried for 6 years and thought we realized it wasn't going to happen and what do you know, we have a baby.

This worked for me--TWICE!

On the 7th day after the start of your period, have sex, missionary style and do whatever you can to help your husband achieve "maximum outflow" (my husband hated that phrase <g>). After this orgasmic event (it helps if you can have one, too), elevate your legs for 10-20 minutes, so nothing drains out. Repeat this every other night (not every night since your honey needs some time to recover).

A woman I worked with came up with this plan and it worked beautifully for everyone she shared it with (she was so detailed in her instructions, my husband, with a totally straight face, asked if she had an instructional video <g>). We call it the "Murphy Method," in her honor. I teach school and planned my due dates around school breaks (semester and Easter) and it worked like a charm.

Good luck!

Visit a competent classical homeopath for both parents to get constitutional treatment. Properly used, homeopathy has the ability to mitigate environmental effects, reduce allergies, and improve overall health. The challenge of course is finding a competent homeopath. Experience really does matter -- as does training from a reputable program. There are areas of the country without decent classical homeopaths -- many people travel great distances for this care, but if you find a competent homeopath it is truly worth it!

You seem to be doing everything that is necessary, and recommended. So that's good.
Just try not to get "stressed" about it... as they say that stress can itself hamper conception.

Also, my OB/GYN always says to continue taking your pre-natal vitamins when trying to conceive.

Yes, 3 months is not a long time... my OB/GYN says that it typically takes 6 months and if not... then to check with a Doctor.

And ya know, it's not always the "woman" who is at fault for difficulty in conceiving. Sometimes it's the man too...

For me, I mainly went according to my ovulation symptoms...the discharge which becomes "egg-white" like, and ovulation "cramping" which occurs. Mine happens like clockwork so it was really helpful and reliable for me. Even at my age, this worked.

Good luck,
Susan

We got pregnant on our first try, but had a missed miscarriage. After 3 months rest, we tried again and got pregnant right away. Our son is now 2 years 4 months. We started trying for another at the end of November last year. It took us until March to get pregnant, but we had another miscarriage very early on. After resting again, we didn't get pregnant again until late August. The trick is to let go of expectations. I, too, thought something was wrong with me, because I got pregnant so easily before. Maybe it was because of my c-section or my alignment was way off from the last pregnancy. Just relax and have fun with hubby. I was told that stress can actually cause your body to reject pregnancy. We just kept in mind our fertile window, but casually had "relations".

My best to you!
M.

Hi,

Well--it took my husband and I six months to conceive our son, which seemed like forever at the time. When we stopped worrying about it--that's when we got pregnant. We conceived him after a night of eating noodle bowls and drinking Pina Coladas. Friends of ours got pregnant after a night of drinking red wine (child #1) and margaritas (child #2). I'm sure it was being relaxed that did it.

Good luck!

I don't know if this is 'sure-fire,' but when I got pregnant with both of my daughters, it only seemed to happen when I laid on my back after making love, pulled my knees up to my chest, and stayed in that position for 10 or 15 minutes

My best wishes to you--I know this can become a real area of focus and pain over time, so try to be patient and enjoy the daughter you have. Easier said than done--I dealt with it for quite a while before those daughters came along.

Hi there,
Try "Pre-Seed". You can look up reviews on the internet. For our first child we used it once and we conceived. I could not believe how many other people said the same thing!
If you are doing the BBT charting, you should know right when to give it the best shot!
If all else fails and you are open to the more esoteric connections in life, I highly recommend a reading with Walter Makichen (www.waltermakichen.com). He will help you communicate with the "spirit baby"who wants to come in. He is truly gifted.
All the best to you,
S.

You may already do this because it's a common suggestion but right after you have sex, prop your legs up in the air (you can support them with pillows) and stay there for about 30 minutes. It for us every time!

Do it daily, I know pin-pointing your ovulation down to the hour is supposed to help, but I say forget that just have sex every day.

Also, give 'em a little help from gravity as someone else said (with your knees up in the air), and stay put for at least 30 minutes after.

These are not scientific facts, more just stuff that it wouldn't hurt to try (if you haven't already!)

How about not trying and just having fun? Stress is a big issue when it comes to conceiving. After my husband and I got married (I had just turned 40 years old, he was 51 and I already had a son from a previous marriage), I got pregnant immediately, miscarried, got pregnant the following year and miscarried, tried artificial insemination the next year, it didn't take and we gave up. After my sister got pregnant unexpectedly, I went off the pill after having been on it for a year and a half, we just had our sex night every Saturday night as usual and I got pregnant 6 months later at the age of 44 1/2 years old and now have an almost 2-year old healthy, beautiful daughter (I just turned 47, my husband is now 58). You hear about these miracles all the time, that when all the stress and anxiety of trying to get pregnant is gone, that's when it happens.

Don't have any surefire methods, really, but . . .

My son, our first, was conceived our first month of trying. We were stunned. So of course, this time around, we were expecting similar results. I didn't actually conceive until our 3rd month of trying. I'm now almost 22 weeks with another little boy.

I just wanted to say that I know how frustrating it is (I was so peeved when it didn't happen the first time around again) . . . and hang in there . . . obviously you have no issues, it'll happen!!

Good luck!!

It took me 5 months to get pregnant with our 1st son. Then, after not getting pregnant with our second, we found out that my husband had a varicocele (a varicose vein in his testicle that was corrected with surgery). It is not uncommon for this to happen. If you don't get pregnant in the next few months, I would have your husband checked (it's so much easier than all the things that can be wrong with us). After my husband's problem was fixed we had 2 more kids. If you want any more info you can e-mail me. Good Luck!

Good morning, you are right 3 months is not a long time, I my husband and I tried for 6 months for our second child, and my son and my daughter in law have een trying for 2 years, This is what I told my daughter in law, don't shower after sex, try holding off going pee, for as log as you can after wards, and at the risk of sounding bold, but your legs and hips in the air after sex, also allow your husbands stuff to build up, if you guys are 3 days should be good for him. My husband was on a wes pack for six months 25 years ago, got home Feb first, by the second wekk in Feb, I was already haveing morning sicknes, mu husbands stuff and time to build, so I got pregnant the night he came home, but then it took 6 months for our second, I don't remember how long it took for our third. My undersatnding is there are only 3 days a month that a woman can get pregnant, correct me if I'm wrong, but that is what I have always heard. My son and my daughter in law both got checked out by a doctor to see if they can concieve, and the doctor said theres no reason they cant conceive, before she was getting up taking a shower every time after sex, and the;ve done the chart thing, taking her tempeture, all of that, and as much as I can't wait to be a grandma, I told them let it happen natural. Well Good luck let me know when you are expecting. J. L.

This worked perfectly for my cousin so far can't quite talk my hubby into it LOL.

Starting the last day of your period, have sex once a day. Mix it up and have fun with it but as soon as you are done lay on your back with a pillow under your hips. Stay that way hips in the air for 20 min.

A couple of my friends have done this as well with no charting, no temp taking and all have gotten pregnant within the first month of trying it.
