Do Your Kids Have "Ants in Their Pants" to Be Out of the House All the Time?

Yes! My 12 year old asks me all the time... can we go to the pool? can we go to Walmart? can we do this, that... I'm bored!!! It's just summer and in my case, my kids just get bored of sitting around watching tv all day... not that they do. But when they are bored they will say that is all there is to do. haha!

Yep!!!' it's better that way too. If you have a fenced backyard it's a huge help! Get a kiddie pool and sit back and relax watching them have fun. It's way less effort than coming up with activities and hassling with trying to keep your place from being disastrously dirty. :)

Yes.. and thank goodness it is so nice here and we are so fortunate to have good weather and a gated yard.. or families all around us. I used to even take my clothes outside to fold them.. so I could be out there.

Try to figure out a way for them to spend as much time outside as possible.. it is excellent that they enjoy it so much.. Maybe consider hiring a mothers helper.. A 11 or 12 year old child who can watch them outside so you can get your chores done inside.

Oh yes! I think he inherited that from me! I like to keep busy & love to be
outdoors.

My child has a mixture of both of our personalities but leans heavily on my side in regards to this.

I take him anywhere from the parks he's never been to, zoo, outdoor malls, fairs, kiddie classes, art classes, interactive kid toy stores, reading time, the mall, outdoor playlands, lunch. You name it! he loves it.

I am fortunate that i have 2 days a week where I can usually get this done. I have some extra responsitilbilities on me right now so sometimes I try to squeeze this in before I have to go get these things done w/other people.

We'll go to the lake or the park before I have to show up.

He's VERY ACTIVE. It's interesting trying to keep up with him.

Yes and you are not alone. If I am super busy and cannot take them some place, I will take them to the library and check out a bunch of dvd's, games or books to keep them entertained while I do my chores. When they are school age, it gets easier because you can sign them up for lessons or camps. With toddlers however, it can be challenging. The things that work best for me are taking them for walks, to the park, the malls and setting up playdates with other kids. We also do alot of playdoh, rollerblading, and coloring.

My kids are never in the house. When we are home, they are outside. We fenced in our yard and I just let them go out a play, poking my head out to check on them every few minutes (they are 4 and 2).

We do go somewhere 5 days a week, with two of those days being big outings (leave the house around 9:30 come home around 1:30-2). The other days are the library, park, playgroup, classes, etc.

Yup! My 5 year old is like that. I make sure he gets some time out of the house each day, but if he keeps bugging me I'll ask him if there's something wrong with his toys and whether he'd like to donate some of them if he's not going to play with them. This usually cures the problem. Also, up until the mid point of kindergarten he had A. hour of "Quiet Time" where he had to play quietly in his room for A. hour. Honestly, the downtime did him as much good as it did me.

Oh, yeah... they grow and thrive outdoors! My son is always outside when I am (which is often as I love to garden) and every nice day, coming home from preschool-- He'd much rather go right out to the sandbox and his dirt patch and play. (And that, after they have A. hour of time outdoors at preschool to do pretty much the same.)

I figure it beats the heck out of sitting indoors and watching tv!
