Do You Throw Stained Cloths Away?

After cleaning out and organizing closets, I have 3 bags of clothes: resale, give-away and stained. Does anyone know of a place to donate stained baby/toddler clothes? craft groups or such? so many have 90% of the area stain free. I did trash some that were awful. I am obviously not the crafty type and will not tie-dye or cover with patches or do whatever it is that creative types have the time and energy for... I just hate to see them go in the trash. Thanks in advance for your advice and information!

I have used Biz in the past and soaked the clothing for days and had good results. There are so many stain removers now on the market, that I would try several, soaking them for days, before I gave up. Good luck!

I go ahead and donate them. Goodwill will sort them. They have a store that only sells that type of merchandise for next to nothing.. L.

I'm not sure what size clothes you have; but you can donate them to a daycare center, offer them to another mom as play clothes, or sell them very inexpensively at a garage sale.

Safe Place Austin which is a shelter for battered women and children would be an excellent choice. I love to donate all our outgrown items there. They do not charge the women and I am sure slightly stained, but clean is better than nothing at all.

They have donation sites, just call them up and ask them. I think they recently moved to South Austin, they used to be central.

Good luck and bless you for being a good human being!

You could put an ad on craigs list for them. Give them away for free. Make sure you put in the ad that there are a few stains but that they are still in good condition otherwise. That way someone who really could use them will be getting something they need. Goodwill is another great choice. However, if someone is willing to take clothes with stains on them then I would think they really are in need and even buying them at Goodwill's prices could be difficult for them. Free is a great price!

Happy Holidays!

I don't want to sound like an infomercial, but I soak stained kids clothes in Oxy Clean overnight, then wash as normal. 99% of the stains come out, although there might be some minor fading. I give away alot of baby clothes. You might try calling a pregnancy support center or women's shelter. (single moms who really need the clothes.) I hate giving clothes to Goodwill because they charge too much for them.
