Do You Remember Their Exact Birth Weight? - JFF

An earlier post got me thinking - will I forget their weights as I get older?

As I was reading the previous post I saw 50/50 on people posting exact birth weights and the others using terms like "bigger/smaller". I really have no idea if it was just wording or if it was b/c they do not remember the exact weight.

So, our of curiousity, do you remember your childrens exact birth weight? I do - but can not for the life of me remember how long they were or the exact time they were born (I know the hour, just not the exact minute).

What can I do next?

My mom can spout off all that for my sister and me. I can remember the times of my kids births.

Then again, if I were to have something that size exit my body, I would definitely remember every detail.

Good morning Sam!

I thought the same thing last night as well and I only have one. I was there when she was born, I adopted her from my sister but I was truly more concerned that she wasn't born on drugs than the actual statistics and I had no idea I would be taking her.

It was 6:07 pm and she was 6 lbs 12 oz (after thinking about it, maybe she was 6 lbs 7 oz and born at 6:12 pm). Couldn't tell you her length though. I remember the adoption date and time if that's worth something!!

Three of the four have the same birth weight. Granted there is variance in length but I remember those as well. I don't think I will ever forget. Ironically I have to think about it when asked what their birthdays are.

Oh yeah, I know the time to the minute as well. I can rattle that off quicker than the birthday as well. :s

Oh since everyone is proving it.

4/25/88 9:15 AM 8 pounds 7 ounces, 21 inches
3/15/90 2:10 PM 8 pounds 22 inches, god that one was easy to have!
5/27/99 9:10 AM 8 pounds 7 ounces 22 inches
5/11/01 8:15 PM 8 pounds 7 ounces 20 inches

They go boy girl boy girl so all my boys were born in the morning all my girls in the afternoon/evening. :)

Sorry - I had a mini-stroke during my 6th pregnancy & multiple mini-stokes a week after she was born, plus fell and hit my head during one of them which causing a brain bleed about 10 days after she was born... so I don't remember her birth time, but I know it was some time early evening. Actually, it saddens me that I don't remember... I'm going to have to find out & try to remember! Believe me I do love her just as much as I do the other kids.

I remember somewhat as in I know the exact pound but ounces I'm a tiny bit off on. I recall their lengths and the time of day and actually do know my son's exact time. I wish they had the time stamp and weight and length on their birth certificates but sadly all it has is their name and what hospital as well as doctor's name and of course mine as well.

The funny thing is I can tell you exactly how much I weighed(1lb6.5oz), length(12.5"), and time of day(11:35)but I believe it's because I've recited those facts for my entire life whereas my children are only 8 and 5 and after their birth no one really was curious about the aforementioned.

Yes.
9 lbs 1.5 oz, 21" long, time of birth: 2 minutes to 5pm on Tuesday Oct 27 1998.
He was born exactly on his predicted due date, vaginally, after 36 hrs of labor (thank the heavens for the epidural).
They called him large for his gestational age and he had a perfect APGAR score.
It took them a little while to stop me bleeding (my husband was worried).

I kept a notebook of notes/questions/doctors appointments/test results during the whole pregnancy and when labor began my husband used it to take notes the whole time - time between contractions, nurses on duty, when the epidural started (and renewed), etc.
It was a do-it-yourself pregnancy/labor journal and it keeps all the details that might have been forgotten.

9 lbs 9 oz, 6 lbs 14 oz, and 7 lbs 11 oz
First was born at 10:22 pm (they recorded the time as 22:22 and my husband said in the Navy they call that "ducks." Makes it hard to forget with a mnemonic like that.)
Second and third were twins born one minute apart. Don't recall the exact minutes, but it is recorded somewhere.
Lengths were 21, 20 & 1/2, and 21 inches respectively.

I keep a journal for each of my children, in which I have written some of the details of their birth experience. For posterity. :-) (And to protect some details against time and forgetfulness.)

I remember it all, exact weights, times, day of the week, etc. Memory of the births of my sons is much more vivid than with my daughter (had 30 hour induction with epidural last couple hours with her) perhaps because I didn't have any medicine for the pain with my boys. Some things you just can't forget. (: Here's the stats:
#1 8 lb 13 1/2 oz born at 8:41 pm
#2 9lb 1 oz born at 8:41 am
#3 9 lbs 5 oz born at 8:47 am (imagine how I felt at 8:41 with this one:)
My mother is 75 and remembers all birth weights of her 7 children, but not exact times. I think some details just fade over time.

As far as times, I did remember them for a long time.... but..... they were born in 1982, 84, 86, and 1991, so I guess the forgetfulness is common at my age! I think #1 was 3:23 am.... but I'm kind of foggy on the others, now.
