So I'm hanging out with my bf last night, and our weekends booked,I have my 5 year old andher 5 year old cousin having a sleep over tonight, tomorrow day I have them, then tomorrow night we have his step sisters wedding, and then Sunday , here in lies my girly brattiness, is my birthday. So we're hanging last night and he says oh my friends having a bday party for his wife sunday, i say oh thats my bday too he says wait i thought that was sat, oh yea my sisters wedding is sat, I reply with oh well we can go to that, and he mishears M. and thinks I say oh you can go to that, and replies with well i was inviting you to come along. That response bummed M. out it made M. feel like I was invitied to celebrate a friends wifes bday on my bday. Normally I could care less about birthdays but for someone your with to want to celebrate a friends wives on yours and to forget its yours kinda bummed M. out. So anyway I'm over it, but would J. like to ask, do birthdays mean something to you? Do you expect people to celebrate? I normally don't care but he's big on bithdays, arranges for everyone to have dinner together on all of his friends and families, we J. did dinner with all of his fam on his, went to a big party for his niece, he took his mom out on hers, and he admitted he loves birthdays and celebrating with the people who are having them on theirs, so it's not like he's J. not thoughtful, so him kind of not having anything planned for mine bummed M. out and made M. girly nd emotional. So does stuff like this get your panties in a bunch, or do you put on your big girl pants and act like an adult and not get bothered?

What can I do next?

My husband and I are not into big celebrations, birthdays, etc. I prefer to be quiet about it.

I also took my bday off facebook because I do not like seeing it plastered everywhere.

We are low key, quiet, usually have a family dinner and daughter makes a cake.

Now, when it is daughter's bday (12/27) it is a WHOLE new story. We've had some awesome parties for her.

I think before getting a little upset and hurt you should wait to see what he has in store. He very well could have been J. trying to throw you off. Wait to see whats in store on Sunday....its too early to be hurt. :)

Well he THOUGHT your bday was Saturday and y'all had the wedding. So you can't be all upset that he had plans for Sunday already. He was going with you to the wedding Sat, which he thought was your bday. As far as his brain was working, he WAS going to be with you on Sat and who knows, perhaps he has/had something planned for Saturday.

If, in his brain, your bday was Sat, then Sunday was to be as planned, going to his friends house. So he wanted you to come with him (good, he wants to be with you!). Would you rather he say "Oh your bday is Sun not Sat? Well let M. drop my plans with my friends and be with you J. the two of us" ?? Making a guy choose between his girlfriend and his friends is not a good idea. Guys don't like ultimatums like that. If I were you, I'd put on my big girl pants and smile. It's not worth it to get all hot and bothered. Take off your panties so they don't bunch up. I bet your bf will get turned on if you tell him you're panti-less. :) HA!

I don't expect a big hoo-ha from everyone, but I do expect my husband to do something special. It doesn't have to be expensive. I don't need a surprise party or a big gift, but he has to use his noggin and think about some kind of nice gesture.

I would suggest that you wait until your actual birthday to see if he does anything. He could surprise you.

Sounds like you have a very busy weekend full of committments. Go and celebrate the wedding and all the festiviites and have BF take you out later on. I know a bummer because birthdays are supposed to be special and all about you. Take it in stride and make sure he makes it up to you :) Go to your favorite restaurant and have your favorite girly drink :) BTW Happies of Birthdays to you this weekend!

I used to get super excited about my birthday. I didn't necessarily expect everyone else to get as excited.....but, I would often reference "my birthday weekend", or my "birthday week". LOL!!! Now, eh, not so much!

Your profile doesn't say how old you are, but I know as I've gotten older (I'm almost 38), they certainly don't hold the excitement they used to!!

I wouldn't be too upset with your BF though...it sounds like he knew it was coming up but got his days confused. All that matters is you have a jam packed weekend full of spending time with friends and family. Sounds like a good birthday to M.! Happy Birthday!!!

Be cautious about making a big stink about this, sounds to M. like he J. might be planing a surprise for you, if he is so much into birthdays as you say he is......J. a thought.

If that is not the case then I could understand why your feelings would be hurt by this. I hope I am right and he is planning a surprise for you.

How long have you known him? It takes most guys a while to remember your birthday. Heck my husband had to call M. last week to make sure he had the date right.

sometimes. But what I realize is when my panties are in a bunch it is because I am not including my husband in the conversation and it is one of those "You should J. KNOW, honey" moments. Then I remember - he isn't a mind reader. I pull my big girl pants on and then share with him my feelings (no matter how irrational they may be). I even fess up if I know what I am saying sounds childish/ridiculous, etc. It helps M. be able to move on, too:)

i can see where he messed up the dates Sat. vs. Sun. but still as your boyfriend, I would expect him to have planned a special lunch or dinner to celebrate.

I have no problem celebrating my birthday with others. I'm a twin. My friend's sister it turns out has the same birthday. So last year she invited M. to her sister's house for her sister's birthday BBQ. Said I didn't want to crash. Sister said to come. So I went and hung out. Then I went and had a special thing with my family later.

So I wouldn't be mad that he wanted to celebrate with a friend. The friend may be planning some big party and needs people there. I would be miffed that he hadn't already planned something for M. that would work around his friend's plans. He would expect you to have made plans for his birthday, right?

Seems like it's usually J. an excuse to drink or do something foolish. Hopefully, it's a nice party and I'm sure he'll tell the others it's your birthday too.

I used to be hurt that my husband never planned anything. He's done a good job maybe twice in 26 years.
