No you do not need a License to Home School my mom home schooled me 4-8 grade. The school I was going to suggested my mom to home school me since she worked a lot. It was a good idea I was able to spend more time with her and that helpped me when I was in highschool I went to regular highschool but I was close to my mom and told her everything that was going on. I am now 33 and think that was the best she did. My mom is realtor so she was busy.
I would just suggest that you look into the Beka system. http://www.time4learning.com/homeschool/abeka.shtml
Beka sysmtem is a little harder but when I went to highschool it was easy. It is so much easier to home school now days u can do everything through computor or they still have book system. They also have home schoolers groups that can help if you don't know soemthing. Good luck it sounds like u have been stressed with life this might help foccus out.

H.,
I started with my kids this year ( 5 kids, only 3 odl enough to school)...very easy to do with 1! No need for any approval in this state (unlike other states) and you can get MANY MATERIALS from the library. Get the book: THE WELL TRAINED MIND it's awesome!
Good luck!

Dear H.,

In Illinois, you do not need a license to home school your child. You can get a lot of information by googling home schooling. Your school district can also give you information, but they don't always want to. One of the keys to homeschooling is organization and having a good curriculum no matter what grade your child is in. Take care and good luck.

Hi H.,
As a warning YES you should follow standardized testing schedules; your son/daughter will need them to get into future schools (high school, college, etc...). I think what you're doing is GREAT!!!

Illinois is very easy for homeschooling. You do not need a license!

A homeschool is considered a private school. It is very easy to pull your child out of school and begin in the state of Illinois. There's no testing and you don't have to answer to anyone.
