Digital Scrapbooking

I am wanting to create a nice digital scrapbook. I'm pretty good with page layout, so I would like to find a product that allows for creativity. I've designed two books through PhotoWorks and have searched out other similar services. I recently purchased MemoryMixer, but found the product to not be user friendly. I liked the idea of being able to add my own backgrounds and Audio/Visual to the book. However, I'm just not loving the product. (Plus there email helpline is VERY slow).

Has anyone used a product they really liked, outside of those listed above? I've used Microsoft Picasa for photo editing and love it. I'd like something with similar capabilities for Digital Scrapbooking.

Creative Memories has a wonderful digital scrapbook, it's called storybook. You can go to www.mycmsite.com/jeanawesson then scroll down to the blue box in the middle of the page and click on free storybook download. Click on download free storybook creator software now and follow the instructions. It will create an icon on your desktop that once you open it, you can click on check for pricing and new themes, then scroll down to download additional storybook themes. There are 24 8.5x11 themes and 27 8x8 themes to choose from. You can download them all if you want. When you create your storybook, you can change from one theme to another within the book!
In Sept. CM will be introducing new storybook software that will allow you to create your own storybook from a blank 12x12 page (just like traditional scrapbooking). It sounds really awesome!
If you'd like more info, just let me know.

I have used 5 of the online photo services for prints, cards and books. If you are looking for something simple that turns out spectacular then Shutterfly is the best. It is easy to use and allows you to crop and change photos. Their free software is easier to manage than the Adobe and it downloads everything automatically. I couldn't be happier with the end product and you can order additional copies in different sizes for grandma. Originally you gave up a lot of choice to use it, but they are adding stuff all the time and I find myself sticking with the basics. I download my pictures during a vacation and have the book within days of our return. Good luck.

I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements and/or Corel Snapfire Plus. Both let you do what you mentioned in your e-mail to varying degrees. They are both fun to work with. Both also provide picture templates, backgrounds and wizards. Photoshop lets you be more creative I think.

I hope this helps.

I have done a couple of digital scrapbooks online at Shutterfly and it was pretty easy... a mistake I made was not removing red eye before uploading some of my pictures.

I've recently signed up with TLC for paper products, but they have digital storybooks as well.

My sons teacher made a digital scrapbook for the class at the end of the year. It turned out really nice......she created everything from the cover to the background on the pages (she put the childrens art as the background on their pages)! She did hers through heritage makers. You can get more information at www.heritagemakers.com. She said it was VERY user friendly. Good Luck!!!

I second the response on Creative Memories StoryBook Creator. I have created Didgital Books from CM as well as Shutterfly and others. I LOVE CM's product, because you can work offline on your own computer, and only have to be connected to the internet to upload the completed book. With Shutterfly, it took me 2 hours just to upload my pictures before I could even start working. It was frustrating, because I like to work on the plane or in the car on long car rides when we travel. I also loved the quality of the CM StoryBook I made. The colors were vibrant and the quality was spectacular. My Shutterfly book was less expensive, but as they say....you get what you pay for. The colors were blahhh....the pictures were not popping off the page and the front and back covers did not line up, therefore you could see the back cover sticking out the top from the front. I would NOT recommend Shutterfly to anyone.

Another thing with Creative Memories is that they are introducing a new update on September 4th that will now allow for 12x12 StoryBooks and Prints. You will be able to complete you digital pages and then either print them in 12x12 size to put in an album, make a 12x12 digital storybook or just email the pages to your friends and family. And, from what I understand, for $60 you can purchase the StoryBook Creator Plus software which will allow you to make your pages completely customizible or use the pre-desgined templates. You can also import your pages, embellishments, etc. from other programs. It's great!

If you have any questions, please let me know. My email is ____@____.com.

Hi T.!

Go to picaboo.com - you can put together digital scrapbooks (there are TONS of templates and options to choose from). You can even order a real printed copy of any scrapbook you build; I did this for my husband's first Fathers Day and it turned out wonderfully!!! Any digital scrapbook you created can be saved and sent to anyone you like. It's easy and fun!

Good luck! :)

This may NOT be what you are looking for, but I use smugmug and its pretty neat. It isn't so much creating your own pages as it is just compiling different albums of photos. But family can link to yours and have their own so its pretty neat.

Its smugmug.com. You can see mine if you'd like at http://roushar-clan.smugmug.com/

Just a thought, good luck! I bet you have so much fun! I would love to spend time doing things like that. I'm lucky to have put this together! :o)

All the best! T.

I use Scrapbook Flair and you can download it free at www.scrapbookflair.com . I use my own elements and backgrounds that I find on freebie sites all of the time, plus they have several on the program that you can use as well and they're always adding new stuff. It updates the program automatically as well. It's the first program that I've been able to figure out on my own and I love it! You can even see some of my layouts on my blog at www.letterstoabba.blogspot.com if you want to see examples using that program.

Hi T. -
I enjoy using Heritage Makers. They have a ton of backgrounds, embelishments, letters, etc (over 20,000 pieces). Their books are amazing quality and they have a great guarantee. They back up everything so if anything happens to your book (fire, flood, or even if your child loves on it too much), they can be replaced for 1/2 price.

I'm also going to scan the scrapbooks I already have made by hand and create a Heritage Makers book out of those so I feel more comfortable with my son looking at them.

Hope this helps!

You should check out www.MyPhotobookStory.com. I am a consultant with Heritage Makers. I also edit my photos in Picasa, then upload them (yes, it's all online, no downloading to your computer) to Studio. This is the application for our site. It is 100% customizalbe - you can add pictures, delete pictures, change backgrounds, add artwork, put text boxes wherever you want, make the color of the text whatever color you want by using the inkdropper, etc. You can also create your projects from scratch. Please contact me at ____@____.com for more information.

Hi T.,
Creative Memories has just come out with a brand new software that allows you to have pretty much total control over page layouts and adding different enchancements to your pages. The software also allow you to add your journaling to where-ever you want to on the page.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in let me know or you can check it out cmphotocenter.com
