So What Happened?

I tried the Alli for a couple of months and I had no weight loss. Sorry, another diet pill scam. I should have learned by now.

Do not take any kind of diet pills, my mother used to take them for years, and I swear that is what caused her to have a stroke.

I took the pill, although, I am no way over weight, but hava a few problem areas. It made me choose better eating habits because of the side effects. My thing is when I thought I might have gas and would release it, it wasn't gas after all. From that point when ever I thought I might pass gas I would go to the restroom. I don't know how to say this without it sounding nasty, but whenever I would have a bowel movement there would also be fat floating in the toilet, so I knew it must be doing something.

Here's an alternative that I am currently doing...I take HCG shots and eat a reduced calorie diet. I began the program at the beginning of November and by mid-December I had lost 17 pounds! I went from 166 to 149!!! I did alot of research on this before participating. Also, several friends have lost weight with this method. Not sure where you are located but this clinic is in San Antonio---www.weightcontroltx.com. The clinic owners are very nice and informative. Good luck!

Hi,Im A.

Alli is a diet pill, but it doesnt help u loose weight likr talking about. It only helps you maintain your weight. Anything greasy u eat will pass through your system and when you go to the bathroom you will see the grease in your camole.

My understanding is that if you overeat then Ali will make your body "dump" the excess food. Might as well take a laxative. The premise is that if you find your body "dumping" what you ate then you will analize what you ate and modify it so you start eating less fat and less calories.

I've chosen a 70% raw diet (absolutely wonderful choices!) and I've lost 35 pounds since September 1st.

have you given up the "bad" things? high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oil, bleached flour,? it sounds like you excercise regularly, which is very impressive....i have not tried alli....i would encourage you to give up these 3 bad ingredients before taking any diet pill..

I took it for a couple of weeks and loved it! I did have the side effects but after experiencing them I wanted to eat better so as to not have the side effects. I didn't mind having the bowel movements that were nothing but what I assume were all the grease and fat passing through because I'd rather not have that in my body anyway, you know. But after hearing about the study on the mice that have gotten precancerous legions in their colons I won't take it anymore. I think even with that study though if I didn't have a family history of colon cancer then I'd probably still take it. Good luck in your decision. I also recomend taking the RX weight loss pills Phentermine. I took it and it helped me lose weight. But like the warning says for it my body got "used to" it and it stopped working for me.

I started the Alli Program a few months ago and i love the product.

the side effects are completely understandable - the capsule is a FAT BLOCKER - which means it pulls from from your diet and pushes it out of your system - if you are eating excessive fat (read the books that come with the starter kit) you will spend most of your time in the restroom and better take a change of clothes. if you stay within the recommended foods and intake you will be fine.

with this pill you can not eat pizza and greasy burgers and friench fries and all the FUN foods and expect for there not to be side effects.

when I started the diet I was at 169 - I ate a 6" veggie delite from subway for lunch with a large water, yogurt from breakfast (but I have never been big on breakfast, and fod dinner grilled chicken breast, salad and veggies (lightly seasoned and no butter) I cooked all my meats and such with cooking spray (no oils) even when I cooked my eggs.

In the time it took me to finish the first bottle I dropped down to 155 lbs.... and have been steadily dropping weight since.

no sodas except for treating yourself (I would give myself one mini coke can on the weekend). I drank a lot of orange juice and crystal light... I gave up my sodas for the most part, same with sweet tea. I still drink my coffee every day I just lessened the sugar amount.

good luck - its an awesome program as long you pay attention to what you eat! It just forces you to eat healthier!

I have tried it. I lost weight (I don't have a scale, so I'm not sure how much). I could tell that my clothes fit better. There are side effect regarding bowels if you do not follow their suggestions for healthy diet. I am a stay at home mom, so the side effects didn't bother me because I was in my own home. When I knew I would be out and about, eating unhealthy food, I would normally not bother taking it because it tends to kick in pretty quick. I only took it for 2 months, and to be honest, I didn't alter my diet too much and still lost weight without exercise. This month, I plan to purchase another bottle and add exercise, along with following the weight watchers program. I think it was worth it to me to use it. Hopefully you can find what works best for you.

I have taken this and I will tell you.......if you don't change your eating habits and reduce the fat intake, you will have issues. and it's not pretty! :)

It says on the bottle to reduce your fat grams to 15 grams per meal or less a day. As long as you do that, you won't have too many issues. At least for me I didn't...........but don't take it after eating any fried foods, YUCK! Good luck!

I haven't had success with any kind of pills. They would give me energy but not help me to lose weight. I used to take Stacker 2 like they were candy, and I was wired, but actually gained some weight. What has helped me is Suzanne Sommer's Eat Great, Lose Weight series. It is absolutely the easiest diet to stick to, and you get far more benefits than just weight loss. I read one of her books at the library, and then later bought one. It has sort of become my dietary bible. LOL!

I don't know about side effects, but I have a friend who used it and said she once barely made it to the toilet. It makes you have oily bowels. She said she would not even leave her house once she took one. She quit using them after about a week. Good Luck!

I also have heard some bad things about Alli. It basically acts like the sea shell one that blocks absorption of fats in your intestines and the side effect is diarrhea. I've tried the Relacore and it does help to curb your appetite.

It's hard to do but the best thing is just to not bring into the house foods that are not healthy. Stick with fruits and veggies for your diet base. Nothing fried, no fast foods and no processed foods.... grill, bake, sautee and raw... Keep raw veggies cut up in the frig and when the food desire hits, grab some carrots. Have a friend who you can call when that cookie is yelling at you. I have a friend who says she is on the donut diet. YOu walk to the donut shop and walk back home. DO NOT GET A DONUT. I slapped her.
Basically it calories in and calories out.

I tried Alli over the summer and did not lose weight. I also started Depo Provera, which I believe is why I gained weight instead. I am stopping the shot and will try again. I did not modify my diet while on Alli, and did have "treatment effects" but they were not severe. Mose of the time I do not eat greasy foods anyway, but I like the idea of having 25% of my fat calories gone!! ****poof**** Like it never happened!! Ha Ha. Since I stopped the pills, I have discovered an interesting fact about Alli, which means I might not try this again.

"The nonprofit group, Public Citizen says Alli, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, has been shown in studies to cause pre-cancerous lesions in the colons of mice. And, because there are no long-term studies of the drug’s effect on humans, the group believes the U.S. Food and Drug Administration should not have approved the drug for nonprescription use."
