Did You Have Lower Abdomen Discomfort When Pregnant?

Hello again Mamas!

It has been 5 years since I was last pregnant, so I feel like I am starting fresh. I have been having stomach discomfort pretty much since before I found out I was pregnant. I am nauseous almost constantly, and while the discomfort isn't usually cramping or sharp, it is definitely there quite a bit of the time.

I have had zero bleeding or spotting, but am also only going to be 5 weeks on Tuesday, so I know it is early on. Does this seem normal to you all or is this something I should call the doctor about? I hate to go and get an ultrasound or blood work done this early, but if it doesn't seem normal, I would rather know now than continue to get excited about our upcoming arrival!

Thanks so much for all of your help!

M.

So What Happened?

Thanks for the reassurance. If it becomes more severe or I begin to bleed, I will call the doctor ASAP, otherwise, I think I will just wait until my appointment! :)

Congrats! Totally normal---- don't worry. I wouldn't call the dr unless there is severe cramping or bleeding. Best of luck!

Oh yes. I had a lot of pain. It was an extreme stretching pain...almost. It's a pain I have a hard time explaining. I was nauseous until the day I delivered. My son was born on time and very healthy. If you aren't having any other miscarriage symptoms (heavy cramping and heavy bleeding) I think you are experiencing normal symptoms. However, if you are worried call your OB. They are the only ones that can tell you for sure, if this is normal.

Sounds pretty normal to me, even though uncomfortable. Your body is stretching...but if you begin to spot, consult your physician.

Take care.

Yes that had to be the most discomfort I had with al 3 pregnancies espcecially wiht my 2nd she was head down at the end of secnond trimester all the way till birth I could hardly walk or do anyting it felt like I was being ripped from the inside out with pain all over feeling as if I was carrying her in between my vagina all the time could hardly walk most days it was very painful..But it was a part of my pregnancy nothing to be concerned about I did have PT done with her that helped for the meantime till I could get home & get on my left side for comfort feet proped up & no walking standing or sitting in the same postion for very long definetly no lifting.

Sounds very normal to me since you're stretching...consider it 'growing pains' ;) Congratulations!

Feels like very minor cramps? Yeah, it's your uterus stretching, maybe even a little bit of the round ligament pain. Congratulations!!!

I might go in if for no other reason than to ease your mind:) I had minor cramping that sometimes was sharp in my early pregnancy and was worried as well. But I was told it was normal as long as it wasn't extreme or with spotting. The cramping was actually quite frequent for me between 6 weeks and...well, throughout, ugh! But my son was born healthy and is thriving now at nearly 11 months.

Congratulations! I am very happy for you:)

I agree with all the other ladies: totally normal cramping since your uterus is stretching and accomodating the new life growing there. I have found that unless you are bleeding, they will not do an ultrasound this early anyway. However, by 7 weeks the doctor should be able to hear the heartbeat in the office with a doppler device. If he doesn't, then request an ultrasound then. Likely that everything is ok. Congrats! Babies are so great! We have had 3 in three years, so I should know! :)

What you are feeling is almost normal. when i was pregnant i kept thinking i was coming on my period because i was cramping so much! my doctor said i was having a threatened abortion/miscarriage. your body thinks it has a foriegn object(the baby) in it, so it is almost trying to get rid of it. please talk to your ob/gyn about it. you may need to be put on bedrest for awhile until your body realizes what is going on. even though our bodies are made to carry babies sometimes it(our body) gets confused it does things it's not supposed to. so please see your doctor ASAP! and just so you know i got through my pregnancy just fine, once i got to my second trimester i was just fine! i was able to go back to work and did everything i needed to do and carried to exactly 40 weeks and had a completely normal baby. i wish you the best of luck!
