Diapers That Don't Leak?

I have been using Pampers Baby Dry diapers for a long time, first for my daughter, now for my son. I never had a problem until the last few weeks. My son's diaper tends to leak after a night of sleeping. He does tend to sleep on his stomach, which I know might contribute to the problem. The front of his pajamas feel damp every morning. Not soaked but definitely damp. I try going one size up for the nighttime diapers but I still get some leakage. Are there other brands that might help avoid this problem?

You can use a cloth insert to soak up the extra. Some moms put a disposable diaper inside out in the front (folded). I wouldn't cut them.

Looks funny but does the trick.

We went cloth when DS was 14 months. Saved a LOT of money - they paid for themselves after 3 months.

We had the same issue - cloth works though!

good luck,
M.

Pampers now makes an Extra Protection/Overnight diaper... we use these at night and they seem to work well. We have always used Pampers... Huggies always leaks for us... no matter what stage my kids are in, but I know they have an Overnight diaper too... some of my friends are Huggies people... so try some of the overnight ones and see if they work.

I am the mom to a 5 month old and we had been using Huggies. We had two huge boxes from Costco to go through. When those ran out, I bought a package of Pampers Baby Dry. I thought I'd like them better since they are much softer than Huggies. But Pampers are just awful. Last night I had to change his outfit twice overnight. The day before they leaked through onto me after only an hour after a diaper change. In fact, I'm planning on sending an email to the company with my complaint! When my son was a newborn we used Pampers Sensitive and those worked just fine.

Hi A.,
We, too, use Pampers Baby Dry during the day for my son, but we switch to Huggies Overnights at nighttime, and that has always done the trick. We've never (in 2 years) had a leakage problem with those during the night. Good luck!

Are pointing him down? I know that can sometimes direct the urine
up and out of the diaper. Also what he drinks before bed
can affect him& the fullness of the diaper. My son still has an 8 oz
bottle before bed and he is pretty full in the morning- sometimes damp.
Going up a size definitely helps!!!

I use baby dry's for my son as well but at night he goes in huggies overnights. They're the only ones I have found that he doesn't leak from! Good luck!

Hi A.,

I have had somewhat the same problem with my children - I have 4, and every one wore a different brand.

My first could only wear Huggies - I tried pampers, they leaked, as did every other brand I tried until she was almost 2.

My second couldnt wear Huggies - the only thing that didn't leak on her was Pampers. My son was different and could only wear Luvs, the same with my last - she's a Luvs baby too.

I think alot of the leakage isn't from not putting them on properly or tight enough, its the shape of their bodies and how the diaper fits - where it fits snug to be too tight or loosely enough to leak.

I have noticed that as they grow, I have also had to change brands because the ones that didn't leak, all of a sudden start to leak. It is kind of frustrating when you don't know that this happens and trying to figure out which brand to try next. lol

Hope you enjoy staying home with your little ones.

We had the same problem with our son - after trying many different name & store brands - we found the LUVS for boys worked great - we used LUVS till he outgrew them then onto to huggies overnites.

We use "extra protection" by Pampers. It is a purple box with a sleeping baby on the front. They work great. They are also great for trips. We don't have any worries when we go shopping. Cause if you are like me I don't like to use the public changing tables. They are gross. I usually change her in our van but since it is getting colder I have to wait. Unless its really bad then I will use the changing tables. So this works great if you are doing alot of shopping or going on long trips. Depending on how much she drinks we rarely have to change her in the middle of the night. Good Luck!

It all depends on body type. We used huggies for over a year, without any trouble. Then my son got tall and skinny, and he leaked everywhere! So we moved to Pampers, which worked ok. Then switched to Luvs, which were cheaper- and work great!

Sometimes going up a size works at night, but sometimes it can make leaks worse. :(

Just try a different brand. We've had good luck with the huggies overnights as well, but it's less of a problem now that we don't give milk before bed.

Pampers Cruisers with Ultra Absorbency (not the same as regular Pampers Cruisers) are far superior and won't leak. They are more expensive but can last up to 12 hours. They are sold at BJs warehouse clubs at huge discounts or through amazon for about $15 more per box.

The other option is to try to go up one size, this sometimes helps.

I had the same problem with one of my twins, and realized her onesie tee shirt was too small. It fit but wasn't roomy. (Her sister is a little smaller and wasn't having a problem). Good luck.

Give Luvs a try. They are one of the inexpensive brands but I had the same problem and I gave them a try and I hardly had any leaks.

Buy the next size up. Occasionally they pee soo much that they will leak thru but at night buy the next size up!
