Diaper Rash - Osseo,MN

My 13 month old daughter has a fairly red rash right now- possibly from the diaper brand we use... Anyway- I've seen in previous posts some creams that some of you moms swear by, and of course I neglected to write them down. Can anyone recommend an ointment or cream that works well for you? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Triple Paste is the best and seems to clear up the redness of almost any rash by the next diaper change!!! Get it at Target or Walgreens!

Good Luck!

Plender's Diaper Ointment. It's made by pharamcists out of a small town in NW Iowa. They sell it in the Lewis stores (when they can keep it on hand!). Best stuff I have EVER used.

Desitin is good. Just remember to really cake it on, especially at work, so it can just sit there and soak in and heal it. There is no such things as too much. The more the better, and it will go away right way.

renew lotion-it's an all natural hand and body lotion that works amazing on diaper rash, plus it's all natural! it works so much better than desitin or any other cream i've tried. it's by melaleuca. you can order it at www.melaleuca.com. put it on the diaper rash (i like to use a cosmetic sponge) with a new diaper and by the next diaper change, it will be gone!! it's amazing!

I've never tried this myself but one of our ECFE teachers said they used to put Dreft (the laundry detergent) in the baby's bath - she swore by it!

Baby Bees (made by Bert's Bees) Skin Cream (different from the actual diaper rash cream, this did not work as well for my son). . . in a small tub . . . works GREAT for anything that needs healing!

I have always used Vitamin A+D i think its called. They sell it at target and cvs i know. The pharmacist said that is the best. My son had a very bad rash at one point and that is the only thing that worked for him. Desitin did nothing and i know a lot of people that would recommend this kind also.

The ointment I had the best luck with was Triple Paste medicated ointment. This one worked when others failed.

We used Resinol. Found in most pharmacies for around $10.00. Nice thing is it has a numbing medicine in it that helps with the pain of the diaper rash.

Hi, I loved Saratoga ointment for diaper rash. Kinda pricey but it worked well. However if the rash is from the diaper (like an allergy) I'm not sure it would work for that. Good Luck!

I swear by triple paste... it's expensive but well worth it! I'm sure you also know that the best thing is for air to get to the area... we did that a lot w/our little ones and fresh air worked best. Good luck!

My daughter was sensitive to the type of diaper as well. I have mainly used Pampers and have stayed away from cheaper diapers because of this. As for cream, I have used the Beaurdeux's Butt Paste (which was okay) but mostly Desiten Cream with Aloe. If it is really bad let her little bottom air out for a while (a little comando never hurts). Diaper rash is generally caused by moisture being trapped close to the skin. Good Luck.

If it's persistent and has small red bumps it could be yeast and she would need an anti-fungal cream. You also need to keep the area as dry as possible.

Beaudroux's Butt Paste. I just saw in Parent's Magazine that they make an all-natural formula now too, but I haven't tried it. The "original" version works wonders for my son who has eczema and sensitive skin.

We use A&D.
Its gentle and doesn't sting like desitin.
I have used both myself on the occasion "bad" day after bad food.

A&D is definitely better.
Just make sure her butt is good and dry, it provides a moisture blocking layer. And it has vit A & D in it and a few other goodies to help healing, I usually notice improvement over night!!

My 1st son had tons of issues with Diaper Rash and Aquafor always worked like a charm. It really helps to protect the area while it heals. It's also great for really dry skin - I currently use it on a few dry patches on my 2nd son as well as on my hands from all the constant hand washing.

I know a lot of people like that Butt Cream or whatever it is called. Can get at Target, I believe in the baby section. I always used organic, natural stuff. My favorite was Northern Essence Better Butt(er) Balm and the Diaper Rash Salve.

Good luck
