I am looking for any advice/suggestion on how to surprise/celebrate my DH's 40th bday in a few months. Does anyone have a favorite restaurant that they know of that has private rooms? I thinking about hosting something at a restaurant and just having everyone there in advance before we arrive. Or has anyone else been in this same situation and come up with a clever idea to celebrate such a milestone birthday?

Thanks for your help!

K.

K.,
I've done many photo/video montages for 40th birthday parties. You can have photos, various memorabilia, and even video clips in the montage....all set to music. At the 40th birthday party, the montage is shown either on a TV or projector. The families who have done this love it and say that everyone is in tears (laughter and joy) by the end of the show. If you are interested, let me know.
Thanks,
A.

Hi,

I just had a surprise party for my DH's 40th birthday in October.
I had it at Lone Star Park and it was wonderful!!

We rented the penthouse and they provided food and cake. We even got to name one of the races for my husband's party, and it was printed in all the programs!
I found really nice surprise party invitations, and then after I got all the RSVP's I mailed out the race tickets and the valet tickets in a really cool horserace-theme card.
It really turned out nice.
If you would like any other specific info, please feel free to PM me!!
Good Luck!

For my hubby's 35th we did a bbq at home with a hawaiin theme and I made a cake replica of his favorite hawaain shirt. Of course, he wore the shirt too. It was a lot of fun since he loves his hawaiin shirts.

You can see the cake at http://www.brilliantcakes.com/gallery.html

If you're interested, I can do a cake of your husband's favorite hobby, object anything and have the party theme around that.

Try Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, the guys will love it. I know you can rent out rooms and it is tons of fun however I don't think live races begin until mid April that may or may not work for your timing. www.lonestarpark.com

Have Fun!

A friend of ours rented the private room in the Fox and The Hound. It was during football season - so the games were on in the room - they had good and dedicated hostesses for the party. Also, my friend had a made a video of pictures and video clips of their courtship, wedding, babies, etc. and they showed it on the TVs in the room. It was really special and a great time.

i have been EATING at several places where they basically have specific areas of the restaurant for larger parties but they seat them in small tables still just grouped together all in the same area...when the person walked up to the area -- everyone screamed happy birthday... it was kinda neat.. that wa at the Macaroni Grill. I think it'll dependon how muhc you wnat to drop with the cashier. :)

I did this for my mom on her 50th birthday. We sent out invites and all that jazz but nobody told her about it. Then my sister in law told her that she was going to take her out to eat for her birthday. So then she called me and was like "hey remember that itialian restaruant that you told me about, where is it? I want to take mom there for her birthday." Then she asked if I wanted to meet her up there. So I went up there b4 them and made sure everything was done correctly. It was a total success. We had a small part of the restuarant and everyone was sitting at 4-6 people tables. There was about 45-50 people there. We went to "i Fratellis" in Irving/Las Colinas area. It is off beltline and 635 if I remember correctly. It was really good.
