I am writing for a friend who has PCOS and has had some surgeries done to get cysts removed from her ovaries. She has changed 3 OB-GYNs and none of the 3 have ever suggested meds to help with the PCOS or other help with conceiving. Please send me some names of OB-GYNs that have worked with you or your friends dealing with PCOS and carrying successful pregnancies.

I was first diagnosed with Pcos in Atlanta, GA. My advice is partially based on my experience with an outstanding dr there.
In SA I went to Dr. Joseph Garza with the fertility center of the institute for Womens health in the Atrium at North central baptist. I took Metformin ( a type 2 diabetes med) and was able to get preg. I now have a beautiful 8 wk old boy.
I would suggest your friend go to an ob that deals in fertility issues, they will be most aware of latest research concerning PCOS.
(My Atlanta dr told me I would not be able to get preg on
my own)

Well, I have GREAT OB-GYN @ Scott & White but my luck treating PCOS with any type of meds or medical treatment just landed me missing my right ovary. What I have finally found that works is acupuncture and chinese medicine. I'm FINALLY carrying a big healthy baby girl due in two weeks! If you're interested LMK! The lady I use is in Killeen.

Hugs,
J.

I second Dr. Allon. He specializes in PCOS as well as infertility. When I found him I was in a bad depression from a previous experience with another OB who I trusted and had went through a painful surgery to have my cysts removed as well. Once I saw Dr Allon I just knew I was going to have the family I had been dreaming about. Not only is he well respected in his field, but his bedside manners are way above any others I have ever come across! I love Dr Allon and highly recommend him!! Have your friend visit his site...its very informative, and he has several locations to boot! We always went to the Memorial location.

Wishing the best for your friend!!

Dr Cox has helped two of my friends. they both went through all of the treatment with him, and he was honest when he said he needed to bring in a specialist. One ended up being told there was no hope- and now is in her 7th month of pregnancy! And the other just found out monday that she is pregnant after 3 years of trying!! (she finailly had to try artificial insimination, but it worked the first try and never would have gotten there without Dr Cox. God bless!

I have a suggestion but the OB/GYN is in El Paso. His name is Dr. Jose Aun. I have PCOS and was put on Metformin for 3 months which helped me get pregnant with my first daughter who is now 4 yr old. When she was one, I told my husband that I didn't have my baby anymore and got pregnant 2 months later and now she is 2 yrs old. I would not go to another GYN for anything. He is a great Dr.

I have PCOS and it is very common. The way to help reduce the cysts and other drawbacks of PCOS is to stay on a birth control that works for you. I haven't heard of any other medication. As for getting pregnant, I got pregnant the first month on Clomid. Others aren't as fortunate and have to try other ways to conceive. I have a wonderful doctor whose name is Elisa Carroll and her number is ###-###-####. She is off McCullough and in Stone Oak.
