Deployed Wife/mom Seeking Help for Struggling Hubby in Wiesbaden!

Hey, I'm deployed and not even halfway done with the rotation. Hubby is doing an awesome job but it's a bit overwhelming for him to be working full time, coaching and raising a 1 yr old. The housework is slowly falling behind as he gets more and more frustrated by the lack of time he has to do everything. Would love to find someone to come in once or twice a week to do cleaning and laundry. Do you ladies know of anyone? Thanks.

What can I do next?

Sorry for being so darn late with this answer but even being a stay home mom is not easy--tell that to your husband and so often I push things to the next day and the next day and another day until months have passed.

Please give your hubby the link of www.flylady.net Most of the members are women (as women are the majority taking care of the house) but there are also quiet a few men on the group. It's about baby steps taking care of the house and "loving yourself" so that you can take care of other people--in his case your child. A cleaning lady is a good thought but she only comes certain number of times during the month. If he signs up in the yahoo groups he will get reminders do do things and testimonials how sometimes little issues have bettered their lives. The most important factor is the the "help" (she teaches us to help ourselves) is free!

I had a friend in Italy who is in the reserves who knew about the flylady and when her husband was deployed she got a little bit down and went back to the site after I had told her that I'm a member and she commented that she had forgotten over the time how positive the flylady is--and yes the flylady is a real person... Also she is very stong to explain that anybody can do her program (stay home, full time working, single, kids no kids) she gives you the tools and tells the members to adapt to their very unique situation.

Even if your hubby is not interested in the site you might enjoy it a lot!

I am an Army spouse in Heidelberg and am not all that familiar with Wiesbaden. Maybe your husband could place an ad for someone to come in a couple of times a week. I know most of the communities over here have a local free paper that comes out once a week. In ours there are always several people looking for house-keeping jobs. Or perhaps he can put up an ad on a message board, there are probably stay at home spouses in your community that would love to earn a little extra income by cleaning a couple of times a week. I'm not sure if your community has a similar program, but ours has a parents day out program and spouses of deployed soldiers have priority. If your community has this encourage your husband to take advantage of it so he can have a day off a couple of times a month. Good luck, I hope this year passes quickly for all of you.

Hey Girl its Sis Griffin from church, miss you so much!!! We moved to K-town and we just found a house keeper in the Stars and Stripes, I am working now and Lord knows we needed help. I will get the number and send it to you on your other email account. Hang in there, you will be home before you know it and tell Matt, I said to wash his own laundry LOL!!! Psalms 91 covers you and your unit.

Sorry, I don't know of any, however I am curious as to where you are. I am getting ready to go on deployment as well and trying to find out about Q-West. Do you have any info. I heard it doesn't have much out there.

I'm in Wiesbaden! Does he/your family live in Housing or off post? Recently someone posted numbers for a cleaning service on our stairwell door - not sure if they do off-post residences or if they do laundry...I'll look when I get home tonight and get you the number...I also agree with utilizing the parents' night out or day out when offered to get some rest or go do things he likes to do...my husband has a hard time taking time for himself so it is easy to burn out and feel overwhelmed.

Here in Japan we have a program called KVN or Key volunteers network. If a spouse is deployed over a certain amount of time, you are given 10 hours per child per week. The kids go to an approved daycare provider (normally in someone's home) and you do not have to pay for it unless it is over 10 hrs. It gives the other parent a break and is sponsored through the unit. See if they have a similar program through your unit! Do not be afraid to ask for help.

My kids go to daycare while I am working. When my husband is deployed I sometimes use a little time to really clean the house without worrying about my little ones getting in the chemicals or slipping on the floor.
