Hoping someone out there can help me. I am looking at the Sahara Dehydrator and wondering if anyone has had some experience with it, good or bad. Otherwise, I am looking at the Excaliber. They both look very nice. I am just always afraid of making the "wrong" choice with big purchases like this. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

my dad has a food saver dehydrator and loves it. I think it was around $80. He uses it ALOT. He does hot peppers and hops (he makes his own beer...his reaction to my mom telling him he needs a hobby lol)

I think the only differences in these products is how long they last. There is little difference in how something is dehydrated. My oven does it with a special mode and a attachment. If you are planning on replacing your over any time soon you may want to look at that because apparently a lot of the newer ovens do.

If you google the two products and the keyword reviews you can find a lot of good information about the quality of the two you are looking at.

what does one do with a dehydrator? is it for food? what do you then do with your dehydrated items? I've never heard of this. Curious.

I've not heard of the Sahara line before just now. I looked it up and it looks similar to the Excaliber. I can speak to that one. We purchased the 9-tray Excaliber a couple of years ago and it is an incredible appliance. We have mainly used it to dehydrate cherries, but this year we not only made 200 lbs of cherries, but "sun-dried" tomatoes, peppers and are getting ready for apples. During cherry season I had it running non-stop for about 4 days and it worked great. I can't say anything about the Sahara one way or the other but I consider our Excaliber one of our best purchases in the last 5 years.
