Deffiernces Bettween Each Deliverys?

First , went into labor 3 days early at around 2 am after a few hrs of contractions went to the hospital, daughter born at around 230pm after 2 hrs of pushing and finally suction assisted delivery.
My second was 9 days early, and induced due to size . pitosin started at 8am after much pushing he got stuck and an emergency c section was needed.
I ripped from one end to the other with my first and took months to recover
my second was a MUCH faster recovery.

All my deliveries were very similar.

#1-Started feeling contractions at @ 4:30am, my mom and sister both had very quick labor so I didn't hesitate to go to the hospital. Went to the hospital at 6am had the baby at @ Noon.

#2- Since #1 was so quick, they opted to induce me with #2. Was at the hospital at 6am, had baby at @ Noon.

#3- Since first 2 were so quick, they opted to induce me with #3 too. Was at the hospital at 6am, had ____@____.com things go smoothly for you this time around too! Congrats on #2!

My two pregnancies and deliveries could not have been any more different!

#1. I chose a doctor who came recommended. He was old, experienced, but also closed up. He didn't just offer up information - not unless I asked, and then he seemed irritated. But...I didn't really know any better - so I stuck with him. I was super hungry the whole pregnancy and ate whatever I wanted because nothing satisfied me. I gained 33 lbs before my 3rd trimester. I went to the doc for a routine checkup at 28 weeks and he told me not to gain anymore weight. At exactly 33 weeks I had put on 45 lbs. At work that day I felt like I had peed my pants all day long. The next day I went to see the doctor and he confirmed that I was leaking amniotic fluid. He told me to go home and pack my bag since I would not be leaving the hospital between then and my due date. I was monitored to the hilt and offered sleeping pills the first night, which I did not take. The second evening the doctor on rotation came to see me and asked if I had been given my second shot of steroids yet. 2nd, I said? When was the first? Apparently somebody missed something and my baby did not get his lung help. Doctor was infuriated. Nurse came in with the first shot. About 6 hourse later I was awakened to the feeling of literally being probed and flipped over - his heart rate had dropped. They said the doctor was on his way and that I'd be having a cesarean within the hour. 20 minutes later my gorgeous tan and dark haired boy made his way into our operating room. He was a healthy 4lbs 9oz (in fact, overweight for his age!) thanks to my overeating. They wisked him off to the NICU and my husband disappeared. I was stitched up after being told that I had nice looking ovaries, and wheeled off to recovery. My toes weren't waking up. I took almost two hours before they cleared me and took me in to see my little baby. When in recovery I had my nurse page the NICU for my husband to bring the camera in - I wanted to see my baby! The NICU nurse turned to my husband and said, "Your wife is dying....(pause)....to see those pictures." He just about had a stroke - seriously, nurse, some sensitivity! Our baby mystified the doctors and nurses by scoring an 8 apgar, comletely breathing on his own, no problems at all, except a little heart murmur, which is typical for most premies. He was in the NICU for 3 weeks 2 days to learn how to suck and get over an acute sleep apnea. He never nursed, not uncommon for babies that early. I pumped for 2 months before I started drying up. My recovery was long - I had pain for 6 months in my abdomen. He has been the healthiest child ever - no issues at all.

#2. 2 years later - I insisted on a VBAC because I did not want to go through 6 months of recovery, this time with a toddler to chase around. I found a wonderful female doctor who answered all my questions, and always asked if I had any more. She said that if ANYTHING looked amiss that I'd have to forgoe the VBAC, and I agreed - a healthy baby is most important. The pregnancy was textbook, but the first 3 months painful because I had adhesions to the cesarean scar and they were stretching. I gained 32 lbs, and nothing till well into my 5th month. It was another boy. At 40 weeks, she tried helping things along by thinning my membranes. Nothing. I had been having a few contractions, but nothing progressive. We scheduled an induction for the following Wednesday. Then she called and said that she would be out of town, but could get me in Tuesday - ok, fine. Oh wait! That's our anniversary! Oh well, baby needs to come out and if that's the day, so be it. Tuesday morning I was in light labor. We went to the hospital at 6am. By 9am I was on PIT and progessing well. I started pushing at 12:15 and he was born just after 1pm. My pushing wasn't successful though because he kept creeping back up into the birth canal. When I finally got his head out, the doctor called out, "double nucal" and from between my knees I could see her working frantically with scissors. She did the rest of the birthing, and wrestled his fat shoulders out of me. I did have a level 3 episiotomy. He was a chubby 8lbs 3oz. Pale and blonde! There was meconium when they broke my water, so the NICU staff was in the room for the delivery and took him immediately. After a little oxygen and some extra suckage, he was cleared. My recovery was limited to about 2 weeks of discomfort from the episiotomy, but that was totally acceptable by me! He nursed for 6 months.

So I have two completely different looking boys from the same parents. One looks like my husband and one looks like me. One dark skinned, brown hair and the deepest brown eyes you have ever seen. One light skinned, platinum blond, and bright blue eyes.

Couldn't have been any more different!

I think it's pretty rare to have an easy delivery followed by a hard one (setting aside medical complications). If you're body is built to "shoot" the baby out without much fuss, that's not going to change from one pregnancy to the next. I pushed for five minutes with my first delivery and probably less than that with my second. Like I said, assuming you babies are around the same size (and they usually are, male OR female) your body should pretty much handle it the same way. Best wishes to you all! :-)

First baby was 6 days past due and I had petocin enhanced labor (started labor on my own but had no real progressing pattern) for 24 hours and 30 minutes of pushing and she came out fine. Second baby I was 7 days past due. I was admitted into the hospital at 12:30 pm and had my baby (with petocin to help regulate a pattern fro my contractions) at 7:45 pm that day. 3 pushes and he literally came flying out. I had to stop pushing to wait for the doctor to get there because things had progressed so fast.

Both my girls were induced because I had preclamcia each time. With my first my body was not ready so it took over 32 hours of labor and then my daughters heart beat dropped I was 8 cm dilated and pushed her out in 45 min. 2nd daughter my body was ready so 12 hours of labor but my little girl was face up and would not descend down the birth canal I pushed on my hands and knees for over 3 and 1/2 hours they tried to turn her but heart beat dropped so she came via emergency c section and the cord was wrapped around her neck 3 times she was black and blue and had a black eye from me trying to get her out. Each had there own problems and were so different. Hated my c-section, so hard could not drive for 6 weeks or hold my older daughter for 6 weeks (she was 28 months old). She did not understand how I could hold her baby sister but not her. So hard if we ever have a 3rd will try to have a v-bac. good luck and congrats!

Hi there... my first I was induced 3 weeks early due to sever pre-clampsia but went in about 11 am and had my son at 3:30 am the next day. He was 4 pushes and done.

My second I was induced 2 weeks early due to bad back pain and pelvis pain (she was putting too much pressure on my pelvis) and started at noon and had her at 5:30 pm and 2 pushes she was out.

I was induced with both and both labors were relatively the same as far as pain. I am pregnant with baby # 3 so we shall see how this labor goes, hehe.

I had 2 planned C sections because both of my babies were 11 pounds 2 weeks early. I don't think you can really try to get an idea or plan ahead or compare one pregancy to another. They all seem to be different, just like the precious babies themselves! Good luck and congrats to you!

First was pure torture! I was induced, it didn't go well & it was a traumatic 25 hours of labor. So many things went wrong that I honestly didn't want to ever have another baby. So when I got pregnant with #2 I prayed the entire 9 months that the 2nd time around things would go more smoothly. They did! My water broke early on my due date, and I had an easy labor, delivery & recovery :) So for me, the 2nd time was sooo much better. So congrats & prayers for a smooth labor & delivery and healthy baby!

Mine were very similar and I even went into labor about the same time with both of them. The only difference for me was that the first I had no epidural and with my second I did. Made for an easy labor. Delivery went pretty much the same. I felt MUCH better after my second also. I remember being in pain for a couple weeks after my first with my second I felt fine even right after delivery.

First off, congratulations on your second little one!! I just had my second little boy in February and he came much faster than my first one did 5 years ago. With the last appointment that I had with the doctor (which happens to be the same day that my son was born), I was at 5 centimeters and I was given some potcyn to help regulate my contractions. My second one came so fast that the doctor or nurses didn't have a chance to give me anything to take the edge off of the contractions, so I had him completely natural. It just took me 5 pushes and he was here. I hope that this helps!

First was three hours start to finish no drugs and three pushes in total. Second was 9 hours start to finish no drugs three pushes son had shoulder dystocia, very painful and took over a year to recover from tears. Third (just had her) 2.5 hours start to finish induction no drugs 2 pushes, easy peasy. So in a way similar just took longer from the start with my second labor actually stopped at 7 cm...we now know it is because he had BIG shoulders.

Remember that there is rarely a medical need to induce. You can say no if you want to!

Second births are usually much easier and much faster. I did all-natural with both, and the second was SO much easier. Enjoy your birth!!!

I don't remember all the details since they were almost 20 and 16 years go, but mine were dramatically different.
The first one was very difficult. I had some sort of infection that they never did figure out where I got it or where it came from. But I started running a high fever (104 degrees) I was completely out of it and making party plans. At some point my kidneys tried to shut down. Because he was trying to come out wrong and all the other issues they had me completely prepped for a c-section if they couldn't get him turned out out with forceps. The GOOD news is he is almost 20 years old, over 6 feet and built like a line backer! VERY HEALTHY!!
The second one, 4 years later was a breeze. Essentially 4 hours start to finish. My water broke at home, we got to the hospital and she was born without any problems 3 hours after we got to the hospital. She too, in great health!
I don't remember pushing times. Well really with the first one I wasn't really pushing and then with the second one, she was coming so quick I do remember them telling me NOT to push until they told me to. So it couldn't have been too long.

#1 I was in the hospital 2 days before my due date waiting to be induced due to high blood pressure. While I was waiting I went into labor and 6 hours later and 45 minutes of pushing she was born.

#2 I woke up at around 6 am feeling contractions.This was also 2 days before my due date. By 7:20 we left for the hospital. By 7:25 my son was born in our car in front of our apartment complex.

#3 Was 6 days late! They induced me and 7 hours later and I think 2 pushes my son was born.

I pushed my first for 25 minutes after 5 1/2 hours of labor (I was induced, but only in actual labor for 5 1/2 hours). I thought my second would be faster--my water broke at home (3 weeks early) and I was induced again and in labor for about 3/3 1/2 hours and pushed for 25 minutes again. My goal with my next child is under 25 minutes! :) My labors and deliveries were both easy, my doctor also told me I make it look easy, and I had almost no tearing with either child as well. Hope your next one is great, too!

Congrats! Everyone is always different but, both of my children were were induced and my second labor and delivery was much better and faster. My first delivery wasn't bad. I was induced around 6am or so and he was born at 5:27pm. I had to have an episotomy to get him out at the last min because his heart rate dropped, but I think I was pushing for less than 30mins. With my second child, my pregnancy was a little tougher (more aches and pains) but my delivery was great. I was induced around 7is am and he was born at 11:17am and only took about 5 pushes. The nurse had me push about 2 times before the Dr. got in there and I did so well that my son was already part way out. I had to stop and she made me pant until the Dr. got in there and was ready. It was just a min or so but it felt like forever! She almost had to deliver him! Thankfully with him no tearing or episotomy! So my second delivery was much better and because I was already used to no sleep, I wasn't as drained while we were in the hospital. Good luck and hopefully your second delivery will go smoothly!

i was induced(well, augmented on the 2nd one) with all of mine:

#1 - labored for 16 hours - pushed for under 2 minutes

#2 - labored for 10 hours(this was the augmentation - i had been in and out of active labor and dilated to 5cm for 10 weeks) - pushed 2 times - he was out in less that a minute from the start of pushing

#3 - labored for 6 hours - pulled my legs back to get in position to push and her head popped out - gave a halfhearted push and she was here

now, before you start getting all jealous of my deliveries - i had HORRID HORRID HORRID pregnancies - we're talking ICU stays, dropped down to 94lbs at 5 months pregnant - so i earned my easy deliveries lol! good luck - you will probably do just fine with your next delivery!

Congratulations on #2!

My first: my water broke at 6:30pm (37 weeks) and 7 hours later my beautiful boy was here. It was a short labor and would have only been about 3 1/2hours, but he was face up and the pushing took a little longer than anything (thankfully I had a good anesthesiologist would gave the perfect epidural).

Number 2: I woke up at 11:47pm (37 weeks) with a severe contraction. My contractions were 7-18 minutes apart. At 12:30, while my hubby prepped to take me to the hospital, I got up to walk around (in hopes of feeling better) and I felt her drop. So at 12:42 am, my baby girl was delivered, by her father, on my bed about 1 minute before the paramedics arrived. It hurt without meds, but went REALLY quickly and the next day I felt GREAT.

Number 3: My Doc decided to induce me so we wouldn't have a repeat of #2. 3 days before induction I woke up with a yucky painful contraction. Everything was getting creepy similar to my second labor, so we wasted no time in getting to the hospital.. Good thing too. I checked into the Hospital at 1:30am and my second daughter was born at 1.:44. Once again...no time for meds! But I felt great the next day.
