DayCare Labeling Any Ideas?

Easiest thing is permanent marker... those "sharpie" types specifically for clothing. The package will say it can be laundered.

Just write their first or last name, or first name w/last initial, or just their initials on their clothing & tags.

If needing to label water/milk/sippy cups, just use the permanent marker as well... it can be washed, and may fade over time, but it lasts, and then if need be, just re-write their name on it.

If labeling a lunch bag, just get a luggage tag, and write their name in it. And then you can also write their name ON the lunch bag itself.

If labeling shoes, again, use the sharpie for clothing.

In light of things nowadays, some parents do NOT put their child's first name on things... in case a "stranger" or potential child abductor/pedophile sees their name on their shoe for example, when they are out in pubic, and then calls the child by their first name. For this reason, some Parents do not put their child's name on things, whereby it can be "seen" easily or in plain view.
Just a tip for the future, when your son gets older especially.

For myself, I use only my child's initials. Or, I have a "symbol" that I draw onto their items... such as a heart, or star, or other symbol, which only my child would know that it is hers.

I use a P-Touch labeler on my sippy cups and bottles.

They are a little expensive, but they do not come off the clothes or bottles when washed. They have different sizes for different sized tags, bottles, spoons, etc.

google mabels labels for the website... they are the best! and have a variety of labeling systems. as a preschool teacher/director for many years, we have offered this as a back to school fundraiser for our families. their products are fabulous.

There is the cutest thing that I use for my daughter and it is awesome. It's from this website... www.inchbug.com. They have the best bottle and sippy cup orbit labels. They endure EVERYTHING. I used a labeler and it just wore off from washing. Good luck!

I work at a child care center and have seen all kinds of things used for marking children's clothing, bottles, etc. A sharpie pen is the fastest, cheapest method. Blankets, clothing, bottles, sippy cups, etc. are washed constantly and rinsed in a very mild bleach solution (health department regulations). The labels that are made by various companies are darling and so much fun to have. But, unless they can be attached permanently to your child's item, the are bound to be misplaced. One suggestion that we make to all our parents is to write your child's name on the outside of his lunchbox or bag so that it can be easily seen by the staff at the center. Having to open lunchboxes to find out who it belongs to takes a lot of time that most staff don't have. They want to be at the table feeding the children, not sifting through boxes and bags to find the right one. Good luck on this new adventure!
