Can anyone suggest a great home daycare or center for my 4 month ole in Oak Park. I'm having a hard time finding reviews and am unable to do an exhaustive search because of time. I REALLY appreciate it!

What can I do next?

Have you considered an Au Pair program? I know many people have considered this option because of flexible schedules and you can have more control over child care activities and they can even help with other household need. For the cost, I've researched and on average the weekly cost of having an Au Pair is less than other childcare options. Well, you can find more information at www.goaupair.com
Hope that helps!!

I just visited the Oak Park Montessori and really liked it. Director was warm and friendly (as were the teachers). The preschool kids looked like they were having fun and enjoyed being there. I visited another one (Intercultural) and the kids looked bored, facility was old, benches broken, etc., - maybe it was a bad time.

0 - 3 Years Infant/Toddler
SCHEDULE offered 7am - 6pm (you may drop off your child between 7:30 -8am and pick up before 6pm)

Also, they do Spanish Immersion!

I don't know if she has any opening but try Joan Johnson ###-###-####. Both of my kids went to her and loved her! She's become a family friend. She's licensed and on the south side of Oak Park. She's wonderful with infants as well as pre-schoolers.

You can get a listing of child care programs in your area by contacting your local child care resource and referral agency. In Cook County you can contact www.actforchildren.org. They can send you a list and give you information on screening the programs and on accreditation. I wouldn't recommend depending on a "review" to select a day care for your baby. You are the best judge of what is best for your baby. A reviewer may have thought a program was the bees knees and when you get there it's totally not what you expected. When finding child care you have to really find the time to do it and I know you are short on time. If you call the home cares you are interested in you may find that they would be willing to meet with you in the evening or on the weekend and then if you can free up a week day day you can go observe and talk to some other parents (if you go at drop off or pick up times).

My 2 kids are in a large in home daycare just north of Oak Park. It is called Granny's Corner and is on Natoma just north of North Avenue (near Oak Park Avenue and North Avenue). We love it. I won't write a ton here, but if this location works for you, feel free to contact me and I can give you more information.

Good Luck,

The infant room at The Giving Tree Learning Academy is exceptional. Great staff, very personal care, clean and infant-friendly setting, convenient hours. The Giving Tree is just over the border in Forest Park (on Randolph Avenue). Check out the website http://www.thegivingtreeinc.com/. I can also share more details if you want to contact me privately.

Let me suggest The Sunshine House near Madison and Ridgeland. She's great with kids and has a good rate. Madge @ ###-###-####
