I was wondering if this is your child's first time going to a daycare. I just put both my girls in daycare for the first time back in June. The whole first week to two weeks my three year old would cry for me, but now she doesn't have a care that I am not there. Now my 14 month old is not as social has my three year old and she still has a rough day here and there, but sometimes they need a while to adjust and some kids never adjust to being away from their parents. But if there is something truly wrong with that place, the way they do things I would get him out. What area do you live in? I know of a couple of places but I don't know if they are near you or not.

I just realized I think I know you -- well, I know your son and I've seen you! At least I think so. ;)
I emailed several months ago asking for daycare referrals in W. Knox and you had recommended Love to Learn. My son, Luke, goes there currently -- he's been there for almost 3 months and loves it. Is Rohan your son -- and he started at Love to Learn Monday? I met him -- and think I saw you the other day when I picked Luke up.
I'm so sorry Rohan (and you) are having a rough time with daycare. I know how stressful of a thing it was for me -- and Luke took to it like a duck to water. I can't imagine how frustrated you must feel!
I don't have any recommendations for home-based daycares, but truly hope that you'll find a great one and that type of daycare setting might work better for you (and your child). I wish this would have worked -- our little ones maybe could have gotten to be friends!
Best wishes to you on finding a good fit -- it's certainly not easy! Let me know if I'm right about who you are. I'm H. -- Luke, my son that goes there, is almost 10 months old.
I wish I had some more solid advice to share. I do wish you the best of luck though -- I just wanted to send you a note of encouragement since I know first-hand how hard being a Mom is (and finding a good daycare)!

Is this daycare NAEYC accredited? How many stars did they get on their 3-star evaluation? I ask this as a judgment of quality. Have you tried going to school with him and staying for an hour or so? I don't know if they have any openings, but I know the Lab School run by UT is good as is the day care on Frank St. (I forgot the name)

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your son hating daycare. That must be heartbreaking. Is this the first time he has been away from you and with other kids? Maybe it's just transition. I taught kindergarten for some years and some kids have a harder time than others making the transition. One thing that helped was going either half days for a while or full time but not every day until he is ready to fly solo.

If it is the actual place I know of some that come highly recommended. If you need daycare for work (all day), Nanny's out off Pellissippi near Fort Sanders Fitness is great. It's big but very good. The Jewish Community Center is awesome! We go to camp there and are half Catholic and half Epsicopalian. It is more like a full day preschool. The director is wonderful.

If you are looking for a mother's day out, Central Baptist, St. Mark Early Enrichment Program, Creative Learning, and Sequoyah Hills Presby. are all good. Some may be full day as well.

Best of luck finding the right match. Please feel free to email if you have any more questions.
