My husband and I currently seperated and are starting to "date" again to rekindle our romance... I need some date ideas. We don't want to do the normal dinner and a movie!

Sign up for Event Alert. They send out email announcements usually daily for events coming up within the week - usually events that have extra seats to fill.

Send an email to ____@____.com and ask to be added. Tickets are usually $5-10/person. I've seen Fastball (band), Dallas Symphony performances, TITAS events, and other performances for a fraction of their regular cost. You could plan a date night and then see what's available and pick from what's offered (and if nothing is offered that you want to see, you can have a back-up plan).

Maybe some activities.....one that I have discovered is Top Golf on Park Lane (east of 75 almost to Skillman or is it Abrams?). You get a bucket of balls that have a chip in them and you hit balls like at a driving range, but you are trying to get them into big targets. You do not have to be a good golfer (in fact, many who are there have never golfed before). They have clubs for you. It is not expensive and it is a lot of fun. You get some real laughs (from swinging and missing the ball.....to hitting a little blooper only 5 or 6 feet). I really recommend this one as a fun activity.

One of our favorite dates is The Melting Pot in Addison. Its a Fondue place, so it is sort of an interactive dinner and takes awhile -not your usual dinner at all. So good and so much fun! A lot of times we will go next door afterwards to either the Improv Comedy Club or Pete's Piano Bar depending on which kind of mood we are in - both are are a great time!

Tango and Cha cha's offers dance classes I believe every Friday night, followed by several hours of open dance. It is a lot of fun, my husband and I use to go all the time before our daughter was born.

Try a jazz or other music club. It can be a new interests or one you share. Dancing is optional. Also, try museums. There are sooooo many , not just art or kiddie ones. The kimball does a Friday night thing with music that's cool!

You have to jump on this one quick! Tonight, around 10:30, there is going to be the largest meteor shower of the year!

Get some hot chocolate, go to a dark place (away from city lights), and make wishes on all the meteors you both see!

We are taking our kids (12 & 13) so we can get a jump on our new year...

There's a comedy club in Fort Worth called Four Day Weekend. That's a lot of fun, if you're looking for something "light." You could do dinner downtown and walk to the theater.

If money isn't a problem, you could also ride in one of the horse-drawn carriages downtown.

The Stockyards always have things going on, too. You can check their website and find things like holiday lights tours, rodeos, concerts and more. Here's the link: http://www.fortworthstockyards.org/.

My husband and I have two places we go for date night. Momo's on Greenville and Forest is a great place for a date - especially if you like Italian food and you can bring your own wine.

A little bit more expensive is The Melting Pot in Addison. You have a three course fondue meal and it takes a little bit of time. We've never gotten out under two hours.

Both mean you need to sit and talk with each other and try to stay away from kid talk...talk about each other, goals, dreams, wishes for the future...this is why you came together in the first place and when you have kids you kind of forget who each other is in the grind of the world.

Wonderful of you to know you need a date and to focus on time with your each other...

I believe Sambuca's in Addison has a live band Friday and Saturday nights. It's a nice restaurant however around 10pm it becomes a dance club. The times we have gone the band was a need blues/jazz.

How about a comedy club? I love going because it brings your mood up, you can talk and you always laugh and have a good time. I like 4 Day Weekend in Fort Worth and Hyena's has some location in Arlington and Dallas.

Ice skating is fun, esp. this time of year and at the Galleria. You guys could play miniature golf, go to Six Flags, shoot pool, go see a play/musical/concert, etc... Something else fun would be going to look at Christmas lights, without the kids. I LOVE to do it, although we always take our kids. I have always thought it would be fun for just hubby and I. Hope things work out for you guys. Merry Christmas!

well, now that its winter i don't know if you could do this. you could go to the pond, chisolm or boys ranch at night and walk around it talking and holding hands etc. i know this sounds corny but my parnets always did this and took me and my brother with them. we would walk and play ahead of them so they could watch us but still have time to their selves. i was pretty young but i remember how much they loved doing that. and there was a time that they were seperated and started doing that again...it seemed to help their relationship b/c they're still married, almost 30 yrs now. good luck.

Here are a few ideas...I don't know if they will apply to you, but these are things that I have done for date nights and also some of my girlfriends have done with their husbands, fiances, etc.

1. Play a sport together...(I know the weather is cold so this might be something to do when it warms up) Tennis, Volleyball (indoor or outdoor), whatever the sport you are both interested in.

2. Board Games (These work when it is just the two of you or also if you are ever getting together with other couples)

3. Bowling (I guess this could be considered with number one) however, dinner and bowling go quite nice together sometimes

4. Take a train from Grapevine to Fort Worth

5. Zoo (also good if kids are involved)

6. Workout together (whether at a gym or just outside, or around the house)--this might not be your idea of fun but it is always easier to workout with somebody--my husband comes to do yoga with me sometimes and then we go out for a yogurt or movie or whatever we decide to do that evening

7. Improv comedy show---somewhat like a movie but you are free to talk a little bit more---my favorite is Adlibs.com

8. Couples Massage

9. Paint or some other artistic thing together

10. Cooking classes for couples (there are some different options around Dallas and Fort Worth)

11. Wine Tastings or even a make your own wine (in Grapevine, TX)

12. Museums (art, science, etc. )

Ok, so I know these are kind of all over the place, and I didn't have many specifics, but just search the ones you are interested in because there is a lot on google or even the different city websites.

Sounds like you got some really great ideas on here already. One more that is fun is a wine tasting. That's always fun. There's a place in downtown Grapevine called Tastings which is really neat, there's also Tony's in uptown which I like.

Good for you for recognizing that couples NEED time alone.

We will be married 21 yrs on New Years Eve. We've ALWAYS had at least 1 date night a week. It became even more important when our daughter was born (15 yrs ago on 12/27).

We are not the movie types. We do love dinner at nice restaurants, fine wine, local sporting events, concerts, mingling at places like Nylo, Loft 610, Sambuca, ZaZa, etc.

One thing to remember is that you don't have to always spend a lot of $$. A simple walk gives you some time together. My hubby is a golfer so I will sometimes tag along while he plays 9 holes or so for practice.

Whatever you do.....good luck and best wishes!

My husband and I always love going to a comedy club. Hyena's in Arlington is our favorite, especially since they have a non-smoking show so we aren't so stinky afterwards. We also drove to the Oklahoma border on our anniversary and spent the evening at the Winstar Casino playing quarter slots. We had a blast doing that!
