Good morning ALL!
i hope everyone's Monday is off to a great start.
Any recommendations to help get my six year old's dandruff under control?
This started about a week and a half ago.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!

PS, i wash his hair with either Johnson and Johson's shampoo OR Suave shampoo for kids

What can I do next?

do a quick search on causes of dandruff. usually when your body does something "off" it means its off and trying to let you know. find out the cause then fix it if you can. perhaps his body isnt handeling a lot of sugar well, or breads, or needing more healthy oils included with his diet. usually its a diet thing. sometimes its stress. if the head and shoulders isnt working try medicated selson blue or t gel for the big guns!

Is his scalp flaky? We had problems with my son and it took us forever to go thru all the dandruff products till we found one that really worked. He's been using the Axe Shampoo with ZINC for several years now and it works wonders!!! Smells great, too!!

Good luck!!

I recently read that you can use coconut oil to combat dandruff. Flax oil internally or externally works well for eczema and may work well for dandruff also.

My 8 year old was getting dandruff from suave. I switched her to John Frieda (sp?) and it's gone now.

come shampoos can cause dandrugg. Did you just begin using one of the lower costs ones? My DD gets dandruff from Vo5 but not from others. I get dandruff all the time but I also have eczema so I use Selsun Blue in the clear bottles - it smells pleasant. It is expensive though.

I would consider your daughter's diet - has she had a lot of acidic foods laterly? (OJ, tomato sauce, etc.) or more dairy than usual? Both of those will get my scalp (and the rest of my skin) itching.

Finally - have you been washing her hair more than usual in the last week or so? It's incredibly drying to wash you hair every day...

Both of my boys get it from time to time. I just use Head and Shoulders on them when they have it, and after two or three washes it clears up.
