My 5 year old daughter has expressed an interest in dance for a while now. We are fairly new to Mission and I was wondering if there are any dance schools that are affordable? Any help will be appreciated.
You might start by checking the offerings at the local community centers, or Johnson County Parks and Rec. They often have short, fairly low cost classes for preschoolers, etc.
For example: See http://jcprd.com/activities/class_listing.cfm. If you search for "Dance" then scroll down on the resulting page, you should see Dancing with Disney, Kindertots and Little Princess Ballet.
We use United Dance, at 85th and Wornall. They are reasonably priced and have a lot of classes to choose from. I know other moms there who are from the Mission area so I don't think it is too far for you. We have been very pleased with the teachers.
I love Beller's in downtown OP. My 10 year old has been going there since she was 3 and my youngest just finished her 2nd year. They are not as "competitive" as the other studios, and the owner makes it a point to make classes affordable. Miss Sharon teaches the little ones, and she is amazing! The number is ###-###-#### and enrollment starts in a few weeks.

I live in Merriam which is just west of Mission. I would recommend Dixie Bell Dance Center in Shawnee. It's at Shawnee Mission Parkway and Quivira (next to Westlake Hardware). My daughter has danced there for almost ten years. Their website is www.dixiebelldance.com. It's a very affordable studio.
