Curlformers & Flower Girl Hairstyle- Need HELP

When my daughter was in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades, she would not leave the house for school unless her hair was "done". So, I got real creative, real quick. And, I'm not at all creative!! But, braids were my lifesaver!! One thing we did was Heidi braids. Make two low pigtails, just under and behind the ear; then just wrap each one over the side of the head just at or below the crown to the opposite ear. Pin to hold in place. Perhaps, you could add some flowers, ribbons or some such stuff to match the wedding colors.

Also, any kind of "fancy" braid is beautifil -- french, fishtail, reverse french, etc. I bought an inexpensive paperback book and just followed the instructions.

Good luck! I know how difficult it can be with straight hair that refuses to hold a curl. (BTW - as she grew, she became a ballerina and did many performances that called for curly hair - the fun just went on!! LOL!)

Sounds like a fun time! Feel free to totally ignore my advice... BUT, I would keep it simple. If she has straight hair - work with it. Just braid it - either one big french braid or smaller ones - maybe put some flowers or ribbons in it. She's 5, not 25, so I'd skip the updo.... especially b/c the require lots of work and pins to keep in place... even hair spray.... maybe I'm just lazy!

the night before the wedding have her take her shower/bath. cut up an old tshirt or two in 6x6 squares, then roll the squares so they look like tubes. put extra hold gel in her hair and pull it back into a ponytail. roll her hair with the tshirt pieces (some with the hair under the roller, some with the hair over the roller - this way the curls are fuller) then tie the tubes in a knot. spray her whole head with strong hold hairspray, wrap a satin or silky scarf around her head. let her sleep in it and keep the scarf around her head until she's in her dress at the wedding.
the scarf will keep her ponytail looking clean while she sleeps and during the day. the tsirt tubes are soft and won't hurt her head, especially if you put the ponytail high on her head. once her hair is dry (you can use a hairdryer if it's still damp before the wedding) you can unroll her hair and she will have spiral curls that should stay until she washes her hair again.

the only reason i know this works is because my mom is a hairstylist and this was the ONLY thing she found that made my hair curl (and hold curl) when i was a cheerleader. i have hair just like your daughter's and we tried every curler gel and hairspray known to man. we had to use 2 or 3 men's large tshirts with all my hair. (and the tshirts are alot cheaper than any curlers i've seen)

My daughter was just a flower girl in June. She hates me touching her hair and I am not good at hair either. The morning of the wedding, she washed her hair. Then I added styling products and blew dry it up side down. Then I pulled all her hair into a pony tail, and then used foam rollers and set the pony with curls. We kept her hair in those rollers until we got to the church, and then took them out and hairspray. Her hair stayed for 2 days after that.

i have pin straigt hair.. what works for me is hot rollers... electric type.. plug in... you spray pieces with hairspray... then each piece you curl.. put in curlers and wait about 15 minutes... it willl set nicely... good luck.. they really work.. you can use aqua net hairspray.. it really holds..

Have you asked your hairstylist? Mine likes to play with my hair after cutting it, so I sometimes schedule my appointments before an event. She only charges me for the cut, although I tip big. Maybe you can do that?

You can also try doing some french braids in wet hair and letting them dry over night and see if that give enough of a wave for something different?
