Hi moms, I had a csection almost 3 yrs ago, occasionally it bothers me, the scar. It's not black and blue or anything and no severe pain at all, just wonder if you go through this, I called my Dr. and he said as long as pain is not severe it's fine, just put ice whenever it bothers me. It feels like a "stinging pain" that goes away in a few minutes, when it acts up it's usually at night. It never lasts and eventually this sensation goes away. Pls. share your experience, thanks.

I have had 2 c sections in the same spot. One was almost 4 yrs ago, the other 2 1/2 yrs ago. My scar is numb to the touch, but strangly is occasionly painful, particularly if clothing has been rubbing/ pressing on it.

I totally understand and empathize. I had one 21 months ago. Does it ever get a little red and inflamed or itchy? I realized that I get slight yeast infections on the incision site. Not fun, but understandable. Gold Bond or generic equivalent works wonders. I wonder if I am the only one that gets that one. :-|

I don't know too many women who have never had one single problem after their c-section.

Mine did not heal well, of course. They took the staples out after just 3 days and it opened up in two spots and ended up infected, no matter what we did while packing it to heal. It was a ridiculous process. They should have kept the staples in longer and I should have stayed in the hospital longer than 3 days after giving birth to triplets via c-scetion. I think it should be mandatory for 5 days after any c-section, but that's just me.

It's been 6 years now and in the first few years I would get aches there and a stretchy/pully/tingly feeling there as well. And also what you described as well. Now I don't get as much of the aching but it will still be there now and again. It's half numb and will always be that way. The biggest problem for me is the itching. Sometimes I'll wake up in the morning with such itching that it's raw and sticky from the skin being open and raw and red. Blah! I use corn starch powder when it's mild but on it's worse days I have to use Gold Bond Medicated Itch Cream, heavy duty. It'll burn at first when I put it on cuz the skin is raw but then that and the itchy mostly goes away. Once in a while the itching won't be gone completely and I will just go into a frenzy rubbing it cuz it's that bad.

I've known a lot of women in person and online who've had complications from the surgery and also some kind of problem today with the scar area. It varies from pain to itching to complete numbness that comes and goes, you name it.

**I wanted to add that I too get yeast infections there. It'll get sticky from being itchy and raw and other times it'll be a flat out yeast infection.

I also have a c-section scar from 4 years ago. It has never bothered me except for the itching. Sometimes I get faint shock-like pains but nothing too severe. It does look ugly though!

Take some pain reliver like ibuprophen. I would make sure the skin is not dry. Keep it moisturized. The skin could be stretching and that could be stretching the scar if you have had any weight gain. Just some ideas to help.

I had a C-section about 3 1/2 yrs ago. While it has never been painful, there have been times when it is quite itchy.

Hi. I have had 3 c-sections and yeah, it feels weird. (my girls are 18, 16 &13 so it's been a while.) In fact at this point it's...well, kinda numb. But I really don't like it when anyone touches it!! They thought I had a "surgical" herina for a while because I was getting sever stabbing pains when I returned to work after my last one...but it turned out that I was trying to do/lift too much to fast and once I slowed down a bit the pain went away. Hope this helps a bit. Best wishes

I've had 3 abdominal surgeries with incisions. They've all bothered me in ways similar to your description. My doctor said it's nerves recovering from being cut and the incision its self being tender as it heals. When we move we stretch tissue that has been cut, stretched and sewn back together again.

I suggest this frequently "happens" at night because we're still and are paying more attention and not because it mostly happens at night.

I've had 2 c-sections, and have 2 separate scars. The first one (5 1/2 years ago) has never really bothered me, except for when it was healing. The second one (almost 2 years ago) has always gotten itchy, and that area still feels numb. Very annoying....

Hi, C.:
Sounds like you have a trigger point in your scar tissue.
Get some scar oil and massage the scar before you go to
bed at night. Continue to do that until the trigger point is released.
Good luck. D.
