When did you move your child to a toddler bed?
My daughter mostly sleeps in our bed, but she naps in her crib if I'm not taking one with her. :)

What can I do next?

We just moved our nearly 3.5 year old about two weeks ago from the crib to the toddler bed. We'd been asking her about it since before she turned three and she wanted nothing to do with it - I finally figured out that she didn't want to have a completely different bed - we had a toddler conversion kit for her lifetime crib so it's exactly the same crib with a smaller 3/4 rail - once I told her it was just a different rail she agreed to try it and has been doing fine. Knock on wood. I didn't see any reason to rush it! Good luck!

Our DS slept in his crib until his 3rd birthday. The day before, hubby and I took the day off to transform his room from a nursery to a little boy's room (we painted, put up a race car themed border and a couple of huge CARs decals from fathead.com) and introduced him to his big boy bed, a twin bed (wish we'd gotten a full size so we could all lay in there comfortably to read stories at bedtime). Of course, our ulterior motive was that we were having another baby about 3 months after his birthday and would need the crib for her, but he loves his new room - plays in there way more than he did before.

Good luck with the transition!

My daughter will be turning 3 at the end of February and I've decided to switch her into the toddler bed at that time. I was always told to do it when they started climbing out, but she's still very comfortable in her crib. If she's used to sleeping with you though, she may have a tougher time sleeping alone. Depending on her age, you can use this new "independence" to your advantage. I tell my daughter that she's such a big girl now that she is getting her own big girl bed. She's very excited. I also plan on letting her pick out her own bedding and pillows.

about 2 1/2. We kept the crib up for about 3 months making sure she should stay in her bed. She like the big girl bed and would stay if we said you will go in the crib if you do not. She has fallen out a couple of times. Never getting hurt, just waking her up. The big bed might not help with the co-sleeping, they like the cuddles. You might want a double sized bed so you can lay with her then get up if you want.

To Jenna- I don't think you're crazy for making the move at 12 months. We plan to move our son to a toddler bed when he's a pro walker-he'll be a year in Feb! Why Wait?
I think it's a great time.

We moved our girl when she was 12 months (when she was steady on her feet). Been great ever since, although most parents thought (and still think) we were/are crazy. She'll be 2 next month. =)

I moved my son out of his crib at 21 months. He had started climbing out, then twisted his foot doing so at one point.
