Just found out the Simplicity Ellis crib was recalled. I bought it at Target.com, probably around December 2005. Im positive that I no longer have the receipt. Does anyone know if I can return this for a store credit? Or am i putting it in the trash? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the responses. I called Target guest relations. Initially they gave me a hard time, saying that my model number does not match their records. Since i had bought it at Target.com, i was able to track my order history and prove to them i bought it there. They gave me a return number and old me to bring it back to any Target store.

Call simplicity and see. They can probably contact the Target near you and arrange a store credit. You could also probably just call Target directly since you are probably NOT the only person with a recalled crib who long since tossed the receipt.

I just did this today! I had a Simplicity crib from Walmart. I called Walmart's corporate office to verify what I needed to do- I'd do the same for Target. They can give you the Item number and UPC code, and tell you the amount it is worth. Then take this to your local Target with whatever instructions the Corporate team gives you - it worked for me. They pretty much have to take it back if it's recalled.

Call Target. When an item is recalled, the store gets their money back so they should be giving you your money back. If for some reason Target won't take it, call the company. When an item is recalled by a company, they always reimberce you so never throw it away. It's just a matter of finding out what the steps are to get your money back. Also, some manufacturer's recalls have an item they will send for free to attach to your product to make it safe to use. For example, I found out years ago that the high chair we had was recalled because of a safety concern and the company sent us a kit which was a piece of hardware we had to screw on to make it safe to continue using it

We had one of the simplicity cribs that was recalled about 2 years ago. We had purchased it at Target. Like you, we did not have the receipt. We returned it to the store and they gave us a gift card for the full purchase price. We were able to use that to either buy a new crib or something else for the baby. I would go down to the store and give it a shot. If you don't succeed at first, I would keep trying. Ask for a manager or go to another Target location. Good luck!

We got ours at walmart and they said we can do an exchange or get store credit without the receipt, we got ours in 2005 also!

P.S. The recall said simplicity is out of business, so call target to make sure! But you should be able to return it for exchange or credit because it was recalled.

I returned our crib to Walmart today and got a store credit. However it kinda made me mad because that means I have to get another crib from Walmart again and I feel their stuff is cheaply made. Plus the model number was not on their paperwork so it took them 3 days to figure out the crib I had was included.

SO advice is to call Targets corporate number and ask them what to do. They would know better than someone in the store.

You can't call Simplicity they went out of business because of all the recalls. Over 1 million cribs! Scary! I have been fighting them for over a year about the crib I had so I was extremely happy to see it recalled!

Without a receipt, you probably cannot return the crib to Target.com (although you might call the store to make sure), but you should still be able to contact Simplicity and have them either tell you how to return the crib or to send you the fix. When my crib was recalled, we contacted the makers, and they sent us some hardware to fix the problem. Good luck.

A Simplicity crib I bought for my son was recalled recently. My father in law had bought it for us and and I didn't have a receipt. It was purchased at Wal-Mart so I called there first and I had to completely take it apart, bring all of the pieces to customer service and I received a store credit. Call Target first but I'm pretty sure it will be the same deal for you. Good luck.
