I am looking for a free or used crib in very good condition at a low price. Unfortuately I am not able to pay much for one at this time; I am currently unemployed. I am caring for my 5 month old cousin and she needs a bed. Any other servieces or information regarding food, clothing, equipment, furniture, baby essentials, or play times would be helpful.

What can I do next?

Have you gone to Craigslist and looked at their "free" section? There are quite a few items people are just looking to get rid of. Also a lot of the items are inexpensive. Also, you can also ask if anyone is willing to donate one to you. there are a lot of nice people on Craigslist. I put out a posting to donate a stroller to a charity that I belong to and got 6. Good luck!

Hi K., you are doing such a great thing for your cousin! There are lots of places to offer you assistance! Check with your local churches. Many will give you all the things you listed. Also, 'Women helping women' (www.whw.org) can help you with your resume, find you a job, get you a couple of suits, and give you tips on interviewing, etc. (if you live near Costa Mesa).
Good luck!

P.S. I don't have a crib, but I do have a high chair, some toys and some unisex clothing. Where do you live?

I don't have a crib or baby things, but there is a website where people give away things they no longer need in attempt to recycle, re-use what is still in good shape. Its called freecycle.org I have had nothing but nice encounters with people on the site.

Good Luck to you and your 5 month cousin.
Fabulous that you are able to help and take care of her!

Try the children's orchard see if they sell any used crib, also goodwill or salvation army store. Can the mother of the baby qualify to apply for WIC? 'Cause w/ WIC, you can get free or very low price for formula, baby food, cereal, milk and egg. The dollar stores like 99cents store have a lot of baby essential (not the best quality or national brand name, but it's pretty good). And for diapers, i found that brand Luv and parents choice (carry at Wallmart) are as good as other expensive brands w/ much lower price.
Good luck w/ everything,

Hi K.,
I just got a crib and changing table off craigslist for a really great price. Everything you mentioned is on there. If you are in the Los alamitos I might be able to gather some baby girl clothes for you depending on her size. Contact me if your interested. GoodLuck and God Bless You!

Hi, K.! I have what you need! We have an extra beechwood crib and matching changing table in great condition. If you'd feel better about it, you're welcome to throw whatever cash our way. No worries. We live in Aliso Viejo and the crib and table are in our storage unit on the Tustin/Irvine border. So, if either of those locations work for you, you're welcome to it :)

Hello K.. I am currently unemployed as well, have been since May, so I sympathize with you :( I was in the same boat - looking for stuff that I could afford for my baby which is arriving sooner than I thought!, and came across some things on Craigs List. There were a lot of cribs on there. Some of course were priced high, but I remember seeing ones for $15.00 and up. Don't know the safety features of them, but they looked to be in good condition. I got a great bassinet on there for $25.00, practically brand new condition. I suggest trying that website and seeing what you can come up with. If I'm not mistaken, they did have some free things, if you are willing to pick it up yourself. Of course, this was a few months ago, but people post items on there all day every day. Give it a try, and good luck to you!!

K.,
I don't have my crib anymore (it was my sisters) BUT what I do have is a double pillow top crib mattress. I am the only one that has had it, it was a gift from my co-workers a couple years ago. It is in really good condition, we always kept it covered.
I live in the Lakewood/Bellflower area. If you would like it, it is yours. Just email me and we can work out the specifics.
God bless you for being so strong and raising a family member. WOW!

Hi K.,
There is a group of moms that go to Memorial Hospital in Long Beach every Wed. from 11am to 12:30pm and it is a good resource for any questions you may have. It's next to the breastfeeding store.
I have a lot of clothes you could have, if you need them.
