Hey Moms!
I am starting to plan my daughters 2nd birthday. I have decided on a theme that is a bit abnormal...M&M's! She loves them and I can't think of much else that she is "in to". I think it will be fun, but I want it to be super unique from invites to decor...send me all of your wonderful ideas!!! I have surfed the net and haven't come up with a whole lot. Thanks so much!!!

What can I do next?

And maybe instead of using the "m" on the m&m invites, decor, you could use her initial?

I got an M&M flower vase (a boy M&M giving flowers to a girl M&M) and LOVED it when I was younger. Still have it. I also made sure to go to M&M World in Vegas, lol, so I share your daughter's enthusiasm. If you go to M&M.com there's merchandise, collectables, and gifts for some ideas there: something neat to help her remember her 2nd birthday. As for party ideas, who can beat the lady who answered before me?

S.,

What a fun party theme! My friend makes invites at great prices, and I'm sure she would LOVE to create something great for you. Her site is: www.craftylilmomma.com. She is a good friend of mine, and she always does a great job! You can also create a birthday party invite on their site at www.mms.com, which happens to have a "polka dot" party theme. :)

I would use stuff with dots, of course. Add the "m" to it to make it look M&M-like. :) Order some personalized Birthday M&M's. Decorate her cake with her favorite color M&M's. Make M&M treats, such as rice krispies treats or cookies. Have other round foods decorated, if possible, to look like an M&M.

You could also decorate with round mylar balloons, or even, simply different colored paper plates, and add an "m". If you have a friend with a Cricut machine that makes type font die cuts, then they can make you a bunch of the "m"s. If not, let me know, my MIL has one, as well as a vinyl cutter that she can use to make you "m" stickers. (I can ask her about pricing, if you need them.)

I need to do something, and I'll type up some more, when I think of it and get some time. Good luck! :)

---Ah! I just saw an M&M shirt on their site! That would be SO cute for her cake pics!!!! They also have socks and hair accessories for kids. lol This is so cute!!!

What a neat theme! I always like to try and do something different for my kids birthday as well. You could do cupcakes with M&M's on them. For decor you can get different color balloons and put them m on them with stickers or a marker. For her invite you can simply look for a great pic of an M&M online that is big enough to be on one side and put the invite stuff in the middle. If you do it in color it's cheaper to take to Office Depot and get them printed. I use microsoft publisher and use the post card template so I can get 4 invites on a page. I can send you an example if you would like. Just let me know..

Saw this online:

Invitations:
Just make a circle in a M&M color write on the "M" in white and write the party info on the back. If hand delivering invitations, attach a note to a small pack of M&M's. Ask guests to wear a shirt in their favorite M&M color.

Decorations:
Use all different M&M colors for partyware. Mix the colors for plates, napkins, cups, table covers, etc.

Use the same colors for streamers and balloons. On balloons write an "M" on them to make M&M balloons.

Use colored paper plates, write an "M" on them and attach to the wall or glue two plates together;flat sides touching. When dry, punch a hole at the top edge of the plates. Use fishing line to hang them from the ceiling or use coordinating colors of curling ribbon.

Use any M&M decorations you can find. M&M makes a variety of items. Mugs, plush, ceramics, platic toys, tin containers, etc. Look at Target or Walmart for additonal M&M knick knacks.

Cake:
Simply make a round cake. Frost it the color of your favorite M&M. Write an "M" in the middle with white icing.

Food and Snacks:
M&M's of course. Crunchy, plain, peanut, mini's,etc.

Make cookies with M&M's.

Make peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches. Cut into a circle with a cookie cutter. Use a pastry bag to draw an "m" on the sandwich with jelly.

Serve differnt colors of drinks. Red punch, blue punch, lemonade, chocolate milk, to represent the different colors of M&M's.

Build your own ice cream bar. Let guests build their own sundae and provide plenty of M&M's for toppings.

Goodie Bags and Favor:
Use paper sacks in all different colors. Decorate with M&M stickers or just write a big "M" on the front of the bags. Fill the bags with a variety of M&M's, a tube of mini M&M's, a M&M beanbag, stickers, pencils, etc. You can find alot of M&M merchandise.

Games and Activities:
Pin the "M" on the M&M. Draw a big circle on colored posterboard. Use "M" cutouts for the kids to use to try and put the "M" on the M&M.

Make a bean bag toss game using small bags of M&M's into small, plastic colored pails.

For an activity, ask the guests to bring a plain white t-shirt. Cut circles out of plain sponges or buy round sponges for sponge painting. Have different colors of paints for the guests to dip their sponges in and put M&M's on their shirts. Add a cute saying using fabric crayons or paints.
Write: I partied at (names)'s M&M party.

i am planning a polka dot party for my daughters 1st b-day. they are pretty close. make a polka dot invite in M&M colors use her initial on everything the same way you would the M&M logo. also order personialize M&Ms with her name on them. for the decorations just get M&M colored napkins plates ect and decorate, throw some of the personalized M&Ms around like you would confetti on the tables and such. maybe you can rent an M&M costume and have some one dress up in it. try the local costume shops like magic ecetera. the M&M site

http://www.mms.com/us/

they have a whole section of party ideas you can even make her a character and order stuff with it on it.

good luck!
