Is there really crayolas that are safe for toddlers? I read somewhere or heard, can't remember, that they have made these crayolas that are safe...even if one puts them in their mouth there is no harm, is that true? could there really be such a thing?

What can I do next?

My youngest is 18 months and uses Crayola Washable Crayons. They are non-Toxic and awesome in my opinion. They also make then in a triangle shape so they are easier for little hands.

Crayolas are non-toxic but your toddler really shouldn't have access to them unless supervised. Someone posted on here over the summer about a toddler using the crayons to "decorate" the computer screen... yikes.

The Crayolas are non toxic, I believe. Try the triangular shaped Crayola. Stay away from the generic brands.

ALWAYS BUY BRAND NAME LIKE CRAYOLA! Also ,the erasable line they have on the market is wonderful. My kids are older but I would have love to have that line when they were small!

Crayolas for toddlers are fatter and shorter so their little hands can use them easier. The issue most moms have is they are still bitable. So always make sure you are right there and if they bite off a chunk you can get it out. Crayola are edible, non toxic, safe for the mouth. Other than choking on a chunk they are safe.

I bought the cheapest crayons I could find, and supervised my daughter with them until she was old enough to know not to put them in her mouth.

As a Mom and an Art Specialist: Crayola has always been non-toxic. I bought some for my daughters when they turned 12m. One put them in her mouth the other enjoyed breaking them. I bought the washable thick ones. They tend to melt in the mouth, but are non-toxic and easy to wash off tables, mouths, clothes, skin, doors, etc. :-). I did tend to let them get away with doing things with crayons that they shouldn't,(like write on the wall) because they were washable. As they have gotten older, they no longer explore with their mouths, but now one of them will not use crayons. Papaw let them draw with pens one day and that was it for one of them. She will not use anything to color with except a pen! Santa put a set of colored pens in her stocking and she loves them. She also colors weird (very off her age level, she has this thing with details). She will go through a coloring book, like Animal Planet, and color all the claws on all of the animals. She comes close to staying in the lines, but has no interest in the whole picture, or in the Sesame Street Christmas coloring book, she will color all the stars in the whole book and not care about the rest of the picture. The other daughter (twin) is right on her age level for this activity. She scribbles all over the page as if there is no picture there. I have also let them use washable markers from Crayola as they are non-toxic also, but the girls enjoy these too much and one of them is fascinated with coloring her skin. (arms, legs, belly, face)

As others have mentioned, the only hazard from crayons is biting off a piece (or making you wash the walls). Oh, by the way, my girls do wash the wall when they are finished! Now if I could just get people to quit giving them stickers!!!!! They don't come of easily!!!
