Crayon on the Walls!

The Mr. Clean "Magic Erasers" worked well on my walls. It works better depending on what kind of paint finish you have too. If it's flat paint you may be stuck with a faint remnant of the artwork. Eggshell, satin, pearl or semi-gloss will most liekly clean completely.

WD40 Gets it off every time. It stinks, and is not good for the girls to lick (you either), but it is elbow-grease free!

I've found this environmentally friendly method works great. Get some baking soda and add a little bit of water - just enough to create a paste. Put it on the wall, rub a little, and it should get everything off. This works even with markers!

Looks like I was a bit late on this one...but it also happenned to me.

I used, believe it or not, cheap lemon furniture polish!
I sprayed it on, thinking that it dissolves waxy build-up when polishing...and guess what? It worked! It also worked on ballpoint pen ink! Yes, I also used a fresh nylon scrubbie, but I also made him help me scrub. I didn't yell at him, either.

Background: I was in the middle of hanging one of those wallpaper murals in my living room. My 3 year old son (now 28) overheard me say that I wanted one for my bedroom, but it would have to wait until I could afford it. Being the little economist, he was "helping Mommy save money" by doing it himself!

Yes!!! Melaleuca! It is all natural. The product I use is Sol-u-mel. You can only buy Melaleuca if you are a member(which I am). Do you know that you have to wet the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser's? I have used them to get everything from crayon to markers off the wall. You have to use a little elbow grease but they do work, and crayon is usually pretty easy to get off the wall.

try diluted bleach and a sponge that has a rough scrubby side. Oxy clean works wonders on stuff too. Crayola also has washable crayons out that wipe off pretty easy.

Have you tried Goo-B-Gone? It comes in a small clear bottle. It is a yellow, somewhat oily feeling cleaner. It works great.

I read your message at about the same time that my 25 mo old had colored all over our computer rm walls....the magic eraser worked (but, b/c of the flat paint, i could not scrub so hard). i'm glad to hear you were able to get it out...i am sure your girls were just having fun and i'm sure for those moms who thought "they should know better"...well, little toddlers do think they know "BETTER"---it's just different from what we adults know :)

The magic erasers work the best..It will even take permanent marker off the wall with just water. My son was in the hospital once and they had a dry erase board on the wall. When he got home he continued to paint the walls. He still does it at times...But that will not take off the paint and works wonders.. Good luck.

Try Lickety Split citrus cleaner. It's available at your local Kirby Vacuum office or online at www.kirby.com.
It takes all sorts of things off of hard surfaces and can be used on fabrics for real tough stains (test a hidden area first)

mr. clean erasers.. work wonders on that.. i have used them when my son did that.. they are very useful

Not sure if this works - but I have a site I go to for stains,spills and it says:

Spray or wipe affected area with lighter fluid or a commercial spot remover solvent.

Brush sprayed area gently with a toothbrush.

Blot away remains with a cleaning cloth.

Spray and wipe away last remains of the crayon and lighter fluid with a liquid cleanser.
Tips & Warnings
For marks on wallpaper, try the above procedure on an inconspicuous area of the wall first to test for colorfastness. For vinyl wallpaper, scrub gently with dishwashing liquid and a sponge.
If the above proves ineffective on your wall or harmful to your wallpaper, hold some white paper-towels over the affected area and press with a warm iron until marks are absorbed into the towels.
If all else fails, you may have to repatch or repaint your wall.
To prevent your little Van Goghs from staining walls with their pictures in the future, may we suggest soap-base crayons for easier removal?
Exercise caution when using lighter fluid - keep away from flames and out of reach of children.

It depends on the paint you have on the walls, if it is a flat paint you would be better to just get some matching paint and paint over it, flat will always dry flat, if you have eggshell, or anything else, it should be coming off easily with the Mr. Clean Eraser. you do have to scrub a little, but it has worked terrific on my walls. You might want to try something like oxyclean, wisk detergent might work as well.

I do NOT know if this will work for you but I saw it on one og those HGTV shows. you place a peice of wax or paper on the walll, the lady taped it, and you place a WARM not hot iron on it. On the show it transfered to the paper. It might worrk but it might be just as hard as the Mr.Clean thing. You might just need to tough up the wall and by a dry erase board and hang up.:>

First of all, at 3 & 4 your girls should be learning respect for the house and shouldnt be drawing all over the walls with crayon..If they like to draw (obviously..lol) get them an easel or drawing desk and plenty of art paper, and dont let them draw anywhere but there.
As for cleaning, the Mr. Clean magick eraser is the only thing that will work, but it will take some elbow grease...make sure it stays wet, when they start to dry they dont work as well..clean the wall first with just water then use the magick eraser..it will come off.

have you tried Mr. Clean Magic erasers? a friend at work told me she used up a whole pack to remove her two pre-schoolers' art. i've used them myself for marks and fingerprints. they are amazing! hope this helps.

First off, your girls are old enough to know better! If I were you they would be helping me SCRUB!! My older daughter wrote on the walls ALOT when she first learned how to write (3yrs old) and she helped me clean. Luckily she used Crayola crayons and they come off with just regular soap and water. I learned the hard way to NEVER buy CHEAP (like rose art) crayons. They do not wash off well. Crayola is the best, easiest to get off.

MY BOYS THINK THE WALLS ARE A PIECE OF PAPER I USED TOOTH PASTE AND IT CAME OFF.

My daughter did the same thing. She drew all over the walls with markers and crayons. We used the Mr. Clean Magic eraser. We just got it a little damp and worked on the walls. It took awhile, but it came off. We didn't scrub hard b/c of the paint. When we were done, you couldn't tell she had drew on the walls. Good luck!!

Mr Clean Dry Eraser is your best bet. Have you tried wetting it? I work for a cleaning company and until it came out we were unable to get crayon off.

I use the Mr. Clean erasers. They work on so many things, walls, floors, appliances, anything you can think up it works on.

Magic erasers are great for that.

I own my own cleaning business and the best thing I have found is Mr Clean magic erasers dampen them and it should come right off if not spray it with scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner and scrub with the magic eraser

The magic eraser is grat for crayons and also ring around the tub.

Try the Magic Erasers (Mr. Clean or Scotch Brite)

baking soda, warm water and a little elbow grease! I spent ALOT of time researching! I have an eight year old and he use to love to sneak in his room and color on his walls!

Magic Eraser!! I have a 2 year old son and now his playroom is his art easel! He has colored on the walls, stairways, and furniture. The Magic Eraser got all of it out, even from the furniture. The only thing this Magic Eraser hasn't been able to get out for us is pen (which he also used on our stairway). I hope this helps you! :)

i love the mr. clean magic erasers you wet them and the wring them out and they work great for me in this situation they have even worked with permanat markers....

my first choice is always the magic eraser and I think anything else you do is going to be just as tough on your arm to scrub. But other options are WD 40 or Goo Gone.

Try goo-gone you can find it at Wal-mart:)

I use "AWESOME". I got it at the local Dollar Store. It gets out anything!!
