My OB doctor has taken me off of work until my 4th child is born in early November. So, needless to say, without my income, we will be kinda tight. I always hear of people savings tons of money using coupons at the grocery store, but I can't ever seem to find many coupons. I get the Star Tribune Sunday paper, but can only get a few coupons out of there. Are there other resources out there that provides food/grocery coupons? I would love to know where I can get my hands on some! Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I don't personally use them, (bad habit and I should) but I've heard that you can get them at places like this: http://couponfrog.com/

I've also been told...as a tip, that it's only cost effective if you save money on the things you buy. Meaning, if you get a coupon...don't just buy the thing to get the deal. You're supposed to use coupons on stuff in which you already purchase...like the butter you buy, cereal, etc...and if you already buy it and it's part of your regular shopping trip, look for coupons on that stuff and use those that that's where you'll save money.

Buying new things generally isn't a money saver, even if it's on sale.

Sign up for mommysavers.com. They have a lot of great suggestions for saving money with a family as well as links to some good coupon sites.
If you shop a lot at Target but don't have a visa through them I would suggest looking in to one... you'll receive more coupons from them that way as they will be better able to track what you are spending your money on and will send you coupons accordingly. My husband works for Target in their direct marketing dept. and he says that's the best way to get coupons from them. Also whenever you spend $1000 you get a day of 10% off your shopping...always be wise when it comes to credit cards though, if you are unable to keep up with payments you will end up spending way more on interest charges then you will ever save.
Good luck, I also have 4 and the grocery bill has been steadily climbing...its getting tougher for sure. K. H.

If you shop at Target you can get coupons on their website. You can use manufacturer's coupons and store coupons at the same time and save tons of money. I always get diapers at Target when they're on sale and I have store & mfg coupons. Also walgreens lets you use store coupons and mfg coupons.

We started to make more of an effort to buy store brand items-particularly the stuff that we don't eat (food storage bags, etc...) and found that we don't mind the Walmart, Target & Cub brands but don't care for the Rainbow brands (we think they taste funny!). We also started shopping at Aldi-but they don't take coupons. This in itself has started saving us money. And we don't think the quality of our food has gone down at all even though the food at Aldi isn't always your typical brand. Buying the store brand items actually tends to save us more money than using coupons-especially when they make you buy 2 in order to get a $1 off or something. The other thing I do is to search around the brand name websites. Many have "clubs" to sign up for and you get the formula coupons (we still use Target or Walmart brand formula) or I get coupons from Nursery Water, Luvs and Pampers (though we stick with Luvs or even the Parent's Choice diapers from Walmart-we don't like the target ones-even though target wipes are fabulous). Gerber has been sending me a bunch of coupons for the toddler snacks lately (mail and email). I was getting the baby food coupons too. We also signed up for the pepsi and coke websites and they sometimes send out coupons. You may end up with more email, but that can translate to savings and opportunity (my sister-in-law is HUGE on doing the sweepstakes and has won a TON of stuff. she even just got back from a movie screening where she got to meet Charlize Theron, and others!) Also, search for mom websites like mom-talk.com, kaboose, our365, babycenter, baby.com and things like that because they often send out coupons. Parenting and Parents mag. websites often have coupons and sweepstakes, too. It may take some searching around initially, but it can be pretty helpful. Hope this helps!

Hi Melissa!

I googled coupons and came up with a bunch of websites- I have used lots of them for coupons. It depends on specifically what you are looking for... You can type in specific coupons of what you would like- Google it or go to the coupon websites and search specifically. I have found it helpful.

Also, depending on where you live, there are some great little stores that sell things at wholesale prices.
There's a place in the Twin Cities called "Mike's Discount Foods"- I think there are three locations. It's hit and miss with what they stock. But significantly less than regular retail.

I use Costco lots for fresh fruits and veggies, and some meat and cheese. Eggs also seem to be less there.

Hope this can be of some help :)

Blessings!
