I am looking for a place to get away with my husband, without kids. We want it to be driving distance of LI. Even 4 or 5 hours away is fine. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

If you like history--Mystic Seaport in CT; or Boston (Freedom Trail). Hiking, nature stuff--Delaware Water Gap area, or the Poconos. Maybe just a little Bed & Breakfast or an old inn nearby, you could "cocoon" for a little while.

Maybe you would enjoy the casinos in CT (take the ferry), even if your not the gambling type, there are nice restaurants and shops to browse.

Newport, Rhode Island is really nice. I've been there with and without kids. It's a great place (much better without kids -good restaurants and bars), not too much to do so you have time to sit around and do nothing. It's close enough and just a nice town to visit. They have lots of B&Bs, inns and motels. have fun.
