Does anyone know of any low-cost couples counseling? I want to try that out before I leave my husband.

What can I do next?

Pacific University (the main campus is in Forest Grove) has counseling on a sliding fee schedule. The counselors are advanced students who are supervised by experience professionals. My daughter and her husband went there. The biggest drawback is that it's only short term counseling. There is a new batch of counselors each term. She went twice and both times the counselors were older and experienced in life. She went to their office in downtown Portland. I don't know if they have offices anywhere else.

Carmen...There is a place called Good Samaritian Ministries. They offer free counseling or you can make a donation. They are located in Beaverton off of Nimbus. Although they have ministry in the title, you do not have to have any religious preference. I used to volunteer and worked at their front desk. There are some really great people there. Good luck!

Kristina,

Try the William Temple House In NW Portland. My husband and I benefited from couples counseling there at about $10 / session.

Yes Carmen there is hope. Try Marriage Encounter, you can find them on the net, and you can get a scholarship of sorts. They teach you how to best work on your marraige, communicate, and find out what is really wrong. Good stuff! There is also Retrovaille through the same organization and it is for hurting marriages. You do not have to be Catholic to go, as we are not.

Good luck
