I am a first time mother of a healthy 3 month old daughter. Lately she has been drooling a lot and contantly chewing on her own hand. She is also fussier than normal. Could she possibly be teething? I thought 3 months was too early for this. Is it possible to teeth this young? If so, how long before the tooth actually pops up? Does it get better after the first tooth is up? Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Yes she could be teething. The length of time until the pain subsides for your little one will vary with each child and each tooth. My now 5yo had two teeth at three months and we didn't know she was teething until she bit me. My 2yo screamed and hollored non-stop when she was teething with each of her first oh ten teeth. It is always different; Congrats on a new baby

My 7yr old daughter started getting teeth almost immediately after birth! Maybe a little exaggeration, but she did start getting hers at about 2 1/2 months. After the first came in they all started coming in one after another. Neither of my boys were this way, but her teeth have fallen out the same way. Once she lost her first one, it was one right after the other. She had the normal drooling and such, but her teething process was definitely easier than with either of the boys. She was able to eat other foods sooner as well. Congrats on your first baby!

Yes! They say "most" babies wont start teething until 4 months but a lot of babies do start younger. My 2 1/2 month old is already teething... these last two weeks have been tough! I've just been using tylenol as needed (mostly just at night but not every night). BTW the tooth may take up to two months to actually pop through but the pain will be on and off if it does take that long.

my son starting teething early too. if you think about it, there are babies born with teeth already cut through gums.

Hi,

Yes, she could be. Although it is unusual to get teeth this early. 2 of my children got their first tooth around 3 months. I think the time that it takes for the tooth to come through varies. If her gums are noticeably bulging and red it could be only a few days.
