Yes you could still be pregnant. Depending on how pregnant, you might not be throwing off the "pregnant hormones" that make the test read positive. Just because you have a period doesn't mean you are NOT pregnant. Everyone is different. Take another test in a week or so, or go to the doc and get a blood test. Home tests are sometimes not sensitive enough. Good luck!

Go to the doctor and get a blood test! It's the only way to be sure.
Good luck.

When I was pregnant with my daughter... the first 2 tests I took were negative. I started my period, but it was light and like you said... no cramping etc... which was NOT normal for me.

I had to wait a good 10 days after my supposed period to get a positive test. It's all dependent on your hormone level. If it isn't high enough, then the test won't pick it up. You could wait it out a bit longer, test again, or go get the blood test.

But breast changes are a real strong sign of pregnancy.

with my first i had a period but wasn't normal. I would take another test just to be sure. if it comes out not don't worry about it sometimes when our bodies are understress or excitement or hormones and body chemistry can be off. When you buy a test don't get the digital. get the none digital one because if the out come is faint your pregnant. the digitals sometime don't detect things like the old fashion plus and minus. I like ept i use them for most of mine. if the circle has a plus and the box a line your pregnant if they both have minus's your not. but if you see a minus dark in both a line going down faint in the circle call your dr. good luck

I am sure you are reading all of these responses and freaking out. Just go to your doctor and then you will know for sure. Stop making yourself worried and sick over this, because it may be nothing at all. Whatever happens in the end I am sure you will be fine...sounds like you are close with your family. Also, if preggers do you know the guy? Talk to him. Also you need to find out because you need vitamins for the baby ASAP!

If you are not preggers then hopefully this will cause you to be more careful in the future...also you should get tested for other diseases if not pregges but having un-protected sex even if it's someone you "know very well" like a boyfriend, you should still be concerned about diseases.

Store bought pregnancy tests are pretty accurate. It sounds like you should go to your doctor.

J.,

I agree. You won't know for sure until you take a blood test. My friend was four months pregnant and still had the home tests come up negative.

Good luck!

It could happen, or it could be something else, or nothing, get the blood test. Have you used the super sensitive tests, the ones that say they can tell you 5 days before your missed period?

J.,

Go to your doctor's office and get their test. The home test could be wrong.

Check with your doctor. I'm pregnant right now with my third child and the first two pregnancy tests (2 different brands by the way) showed no pregnancy, but I most definitely am pregnant.

Yes, you could still be pregnant. Urine tests aren't always reliable; when are you taking the tests? The hormone levels show up better in the morning, but the most reliable test is to go to your doctor and have them draw blood; before I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, I had an upset stomach and was tired, and even though I had had my period, my doctor took blood and one of the tests he ran was a pregnancy test and here she is. I would recommend calling your doctor. Good luck.

Are you usually quite regular with your periods? If so, then its possible you miscarried early. I had that happen to me last year. I am very regular and was late a few days. I took a test and it was a very faint positive. Two days later I started bleeding and had a normal period. The dr said that sometimes that's our body's way of getting rid of something that's not going well. does that make sense?

Or its possible something else is going on. Have you been on any birth control? Sometimes those b.c. methods - The depo shot, the IUD, can make your body act weird like that even after you first get off them.

You may just have to wait and see what happens over the next month. If you're still really concerned you could go into the dr and they can do lab work to check, or at least answer some more of your questions.

I see you want to go to college. This may also be an opportunity to "play it safe" from now on so you can finish school first. Trust me, I went through school with my kids while working full-time too and I would never recommend it - no matter how hard you try for it not to affect them, it does and its better to just get school done before starting a family, if at all possible.

Good luck with everything!

I'd say no. Your body will change a lot over the years with pre-menstrual symptoms. With your aspirations, I hope you're using birth control? Satisfy your love of kids with babysitting for awhile, or even volunteering to be with the Big Brother/Big Sister organization. Its a wonderful program and helps kids w/o much family a lot.
