Ok here goes my period is a couple weeks late I am having a clear mucus discharge I have taken numerous pregnancy tests they all show negative. Because of my health I am not allowed to take birth control and medically I was told that I should not have any more children because it can be life threatening. I also cant get fixed because of my health so me and my husband only have condoms to rely on. So I am really scared that I could be pregnant and I hope not. But if I am not can anyone tell me why I am not getting a period and why am I having a clear mucus discharge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I agree with Jen that you should get in to see your gyne for a visit, it sounds like a good exam might be the only thing to answer your questions for sure. I too have been told that for health reasons I can't take the pill and should not get pregnant again for my own health so my husband had a vasectomy and did very well--no more taking chances. Also, how old are you because I have noticed that the closer I get to 40, the stranger my periods are getting.

Hi K.,

My suggestion would be that if you are in fact that concerned, you should either go see a midwife or OB/GYN and get a definite answer. The sooner you know what's going on with your body the better, and the only way to be really sure is to see someone in the medical field who has experience with these types of questions.

Good luck, and take care.

K.,

Were you able to take home pregnancy tests before that worked? I have a friend who wasn't able to rely on the home pregnancy tests and had to have blood taken. It was the strangest thing, she actually took a home pregnancy test when she was 8 months pregnant and it said negative.

Regardless, I would definately call the doctor immediately. It is far better to be safe, and who cares if you go in to the doctor to get checked out and there is nothing wrong - you period is just late. It seems like your condition is very serious and needs to be checked out right away. Please call the doctor today.

I will pray for you.

L.

Why can't your husband get fixed?

There are many reasons to not get a period and stress is a biggee, but from the sounds of it you have other female issues (not being able to get fixed or take BC) so that may have something to do with it also. Without knowing a little more of the medical history it is hard to tell.

For your sake, I would get a blood test to check for pregnancy and ask your hubby to get a vasectomy...I hear that they aren't too bad and he'll be back to normal in no time. Then you'll never have to worry again about getting pregnant! :)
