I would recommend my husband. This is how he started in this a few years ago- we bought property to fix and sell or rent. He has always been good with remodeling and fixing things. We networked with several couples that were doing the same thing, they liked what he did so much that they contracted him to do the work on the homes they bought. He has been in business ever since. He is helping us ready our house for sale and he even came to one of the houses we were looking to buy and helped us know what it would cost to get it updated enough to live in versus what it would cost to do all of the things we want (which was lots!) He is honest and if you need things done in phases for money reasons he will help you decide which to do first and what can wait.

We used David Youngblood for our hardwood floor and were very pleased with his work. He doesn't have a showroom though so your friends,in case they need hardwood floor done, have to go and look at other showrooms. Youngblood would then provide some samples at your request. Other than this inconvenience, his price and quality were much better than Coker floor and Home Depot at the time we used him.

They did our kitchen, three bathrooms and painting in the entry hall. They also have done a ton of work for my friend's mom's home, which I see is featured on their website. She's had them back at least a half dozen times in the last couple of years to do a bunch of things. I figured if she continues to have them back, they must be good/honest/reasonable and they were.

My aunt is a custom home builder and she also does remodeling. She doesn't usually have more than one or two projects going at a time, so she is able to give you a lot of personal attention. The contractors (and all categories of service providers) are rated by real people who have used their services not only on price but quality, timeliness, professionalism and a number of other factors. It is definitely a great resource for finding help!

I don't know where your friend's house is, and that will make a difference. However, I use Rudy Riddle for most all my large projects. I have a lot of rental property and have used him for more than ten years. I bought a house last year that had been damaged severely by tenants - all the plumbing, a/c, and appliances had been taken out. He pretty much rebuilt the entire home.
