Condos in Waikiki

We will be taking a family vacation in July around Honolulu. We are researching condos in that area for the 4 of us. Our little eight month old hates riding in cars so we need a condo that ideally would be in walking distance to most attractions, especially the beach. (On a side note - given that my 8 month old puts EVERYTHING in his mouth - should I worry about sand?) We are looking for affordable and clean but it doesn't need to be luxurious or need daily maid service. A washer/dryer and the ability to make our own breakfast/occasional dinner are a must! Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We ended up renting in Kapolei, near the JW Marriott resort. It was a quiet area, perfect for our needs. We only visited Honolulu/Waikiki once, and that was enough. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

I used to live in Hawaii----First of all, Hawaii isn't a large island but talking about "attractions"--_What type of stuff are you lookign to do??? July is Peak season (I worked for the Hyatt for 7 years) and prices will vary due to location. Thinking of hotels with kitchens here are some good lovations:

Waikiki Sunset 1 (888) 782-9722
Waikiki Banyan ###-###-####

They have Kitchens and MOST hotels have laundry rooms in the building (not in the suites though). You might want to call them. ANy other questions, feel free to message me... Have a great trip!

i don't know about condos in the area, but i do know about sand... it wont hurt her if she does it... which she probably will... one hand of sand in her mouth, and I am sure that she wont do it again... ;o) but its kind of impossible for the little ones to keep it out... just make sure you have water to rinse her mouth out.. have fun, and try not to stress about it! ;o)

My Husband works for Worldmark by Wyndham. We are also owners and I swear this is THE BEST way to vacation. They are the largest vacation ownership in the world. If your family likes to take vacations or even weekend getaways, then I highly reccomend looking into this. EVERYTIME you vaca you will be put into a condo. And they have resorts all over the world to choose from. As far as locations go, they seem to always be conviently located to central tourist destinations. I know they have several resorts in Waikiki to choose from. If you want more information... let me know!

As far as the sand goes... I wouldnt worry too much about it. My daughter is 12 mos and she has eaten sand before. At first, it looks like a fun thing to put in your mouth but after he discovers how yucky it is he prob wont put handfuls in his mouth. It is inevitalbe though... he will get some in his mouth.

Hi, I currently live in the Honolulu Area, I can tell you what there is to do, the beach in the Waikiki area would be the main attraction of course, parking is very hard to find in the downtown area so you'll be walking around alot. Oahu is easy to find your way around. I really don't think you will find a condo in the Waikiki area more like the hotel fan fare. There are lots of places to eat and tons of shopping and if you like to surf or boogyboard then your coming to the right location. Also are you or your husband in the military? This could make a difference in prices, discounts and a hotel called the Hale Koa is for military. Now, if your renting a car, a drive to the NORTH SHORE is worth the drive and the quaint historical town of Halawa is always a winner.
Honolulu, is expensive so be prepared to spend money especially downtown Waikiki because it caters to the tourists.
Let me know if you have any more questions I'll be glad to answer them

Well, if you want to head over to Maui way, there is a FANTASTIC condo called the Mana Kai. Its on the beach and has a pool as well. Also, on the lobby level there is a bar and a wonderful resturant. Here is the website, we stayed there and LOVED it :) http://www.greathawaiivacations.com/maui/kihei/id_mana_ka...

Dear L.,

Uhhh, mmmm, well, I think that he definitely will try it . But it seems to me tht sand wouldn't taste good, but that is no deterent sometimes. Just watch him closely and clean out his mouth occasionally. Have fun, C. N.
