Two of my daughters are in youth symphony this year and I need to get concert attire for them. This includes black dress pants, white long sleeved blouses and nice black shoes. the shoes I'm sure I can find easily but does anyone know of a good website or store to check? They wear about a size 7. School uniform sites maybe?

Thank you very much!!

What can I do next?

That was dress code when my daughter was in elementary school. My daughter's however wore a black skirt or skort with black leggings and boots. For the top, I just bought a white long sleeve t-shirt at Kohls (I always found shirts that were a little dressier like tiered or sparkles around the top etc). The music teacher never said my daughter wasn't dressed to code.

Since they won't be worn much, I wouldn't spend a lot of money - check Old Navy or Kohl's Online. For shoes, do Walmart or Payless. Again, they may grow out of them by spring.

When my daughter was in orchestra, I bought her black skirt, white shirt and black shoes at Kohls because we knew she would not wear it often.

It worked out fine for the 3-5 performances they had that year.

When she was in high school orchestra, they had long black dresses and suits. We had to pay $25, use them all year, make sure they were cleaned when we turned them back in at the end of the year.

Generally the conductor will tell you what is expected/acceptable.
Our middle school band conductor did not permit any open toed shoes.
He said the level of the stage is such that people in the 1st 10 rows will get a view of a whole lot of feet and they don't need to see all those toes tapping away.
Of course this varies with each conductor so you need to ask each their preference.
I love it when the band has a uniform type polo shirt that they all wear.
The pants were fine as no iron black khakis from Walmart.
When he had to wear a dress shirt our son could wear a short sleeve shirt and any tie would do (I SO love zipper ties!).

I got our black pants and white shirts at Walmart. Their church/suit clothes are by the boys socks. My grandson wears the tie with his stuff to church and the white shirt and black pants are what my granddaughter wears when she needs black pants and a white shirt.

Penney's also has boys suits. They sell the pants and jackets separately so you can by just plain black suit pants. If you watch the sales you can get the pants at a really good price.

I would go to the department store first, otherwise you can go to www.concertattire.com. I would make sure there is plenty of room in the shoulder area - it can get difficult if there is ANY restriction. In addition, I am going to suggest pants that have a partial elastic waistband, they are more comfortable while sitting and playing. Take this from someone who has been in choir, orchestra & band.

JC Penney's, Kohls, Macy's
Sometimes the Gap will have basics, but preppy.

My boys sing in a couple of different choirs and I always manage to find their black dress pants and white dress shirts second hand and in great condition since dress clothes are usually worn very little. I think school uniforms are usually cotton, and my boys choirs require dress pants that are not cotton.

I would look someplace like Ross or TJ Maxx or Marshalls. You should be able to find that type of thing there. You can always look at Target or even Wal Mart. Sometimes you can find what you need. I wouldn't look at school uniforms sites. I think what you are needing needs to be just a bit nicer.
